Christmas-If the custom of exchanging gifts did not come from the bible then where did it come from?
Did you know that most people still believe that the custom of exchanging Christmas gifts is from the wise men who bought baby Jesus,gold,myrrh and frankincense,I read that the bible says NOTHING about Christmas gifts,then where did we get the custom of exchanging gifts on Christmas,I have always adored Christmas and I hate that I even bothered to read and find out the truth about it,now Christmas won't feel the same to me ever again.

The custom of exchanging gifts has its origins in the pagan Roman solstice celebration of Saturnalia. It is precisely because the church adopted these pagan traditions that they have lasted into modern times.
Until the 4th century AD the church didn't celebrate the birth of Jesus. There is no date given in the Bible, but most scholars agree He was born in the spring (part of the story of the nativity involves an angel appearing to shepherds tending their flocks in the fields, and they don't do that in cold December).
Saturnalia was a festival of feasting and featured exchanging gifts and evergreen boughs. Evergreens were part of many cultures winter celebrations as the trees stay green through the winter, a promise of the return of the green, growing Spring season. Saturnalia was wildly popular at the time, so the church adopted its celebrations as their own, giving them a Christian spin and assigning Jesus the birthdate of December 25th (which was part of another pagan celebration for Mithras, child of the unconquerable sun, born December 25th).

Do family members normally give a gift to the mum when the baby is born, or only at the bridal shower. Also, as I am male, do I send a gift to the bridal shower?
And what are nice presents to give for the baby? I think maybe just a gift voucher for a baby store, what do you think?

a gift voucher is good. new baby means lots of purchases before and after the birth. i would pick a store that you know they will shop in. sorry not telling you anything you don't already know.
however, if you are fishing for an actual present idea, i'd go with something they don't have yet but need: crib, stroller, musical mobile, baby monitor, baby toys. depends on your budget.

Friends of my boyfriend are expecting their third child (They already have two boys), but I don’t know the gender. I want to get them a gender neutral baby gift for Christmas, but I’m uncertain what to get. I need ideas. And it has to be something that can fit in a suitcase and doesn’t break regulations, since I will be flying to Vancouver.
I have no idea what the gender is. I've never met either parent, so I don't know anything more than their names, and the names and ages of their sons.

My husband and I are adopting a child and we want to register for baby/toddler gifts online for our family that is out of town but we want the items to be as environmentally friendly and fair trade as possible and not just a bunch of plastic junk. Thank you!

I have a baby shower to go to and the kid I think is getting everything….I need some great ideas.
