Where have you found items for free? Did you tell someone or a church or on-line group that you needed baby items?

Diapers, wipes, car seat, swing, clothing, etc.

Best answer gets the 10 points! Thanks!

You can get items for free by searching your county and area for organizations that give put free supplies, clothing, and other neccessary products to families. For example I volunteer for a group called Opportunities for Otsego, in Oneonta NY. They have a whole entire room filled with products to give away, people come in and just sign their name and take whatever they need. I think a lot of counties have programs like this. IF that doesn’t work you could always go online and get free samples, have a friend that has a child share their old things with you and you can give it back, garage sales, etc…If you do need some more help you can get ahold of me, and I will def. Find a way to get you some things you may need. Good luck

In light of recent research, I am now reconsidering all plastic baby products that I am using, from bottles to binkies to baby food containers. Does anyone have any info on BPA free baby products that are often used?? I plan on doing a total overhaul tomorrow of all of my products, I just want my little one ot be safe!

When I heard all the info I didn’t think I was going to change my advent bottles, until I put hot water in a bottle for a long trip and melted the bottle! My friend put hers in the dishwasher and it turned opaque. My husband and I went out and bought Medela bottles - BPA free!

I found this site helpful!

Our daughter’s first birthday is on April 8. We are planning to get her a Fisher Price Baby Gymnastics Bounce and Ride Zebra, and a Disney Winnie the Pooh Teachin Lights Phone ourselves, but what are some other gifts that her cousins and grandparents, etc. can get for her that are in the $20 and under price range?

I am looking for answers from people who have kids in the same age range. What toys do your kids ~REALLY~ love?

She already has an Exersaucer, which she adores, so that one is out…

Thanks in advance!

My daughter JUST had her 1st birthday a month ago. We asked everyone to get her board books….because she LOVES them. They are inexpensive and this is a great age to start introducing books!! My daughter just loves flipping through the pages and looking at the colorful pictures!!

Other great gifts are blocks to build towers (alphabet blocks are great…Target sells a huge set of them for around $10.00). There is a great learning toy put out by Leap frog called "LuLu The Letter Spinning Spider"….BOTH of my girls have adored this!!

Other things my daughter enjoys are things she can sort…..blocks (again), links, pop beads (the big plastic ones that pop into each other), and play food (she plays with my 2 year old’s play kitchen and play food way more than my 2 year old does!!)

Hope, maybe, that helped!!

My husband and I are going to find out the sex, Just not tell.
For one reason, We don’t want a million 0-3 month old Girly or boyish clothes that the baby will never fit into.
Also when we have a second, If we have one of each, I don’t want my Son using my Daughters pink stroller or vise versa.

With that said, What do people usually give at baby showers if the sex is unknown.

I don’t know that not telling the sex will really deter people from buying clothes…people LOVE buying baby clothes. They will probably just end up getting you mostly gender neutral clothes, which, if you decide to have another is better than having gender-specific stuff, but still annoying.

And honestly, even if you register most people aren’t even going to look at what you registered for. They will get you what they think you need (my mom bought me a bassinett even though I asked her a million times not to because we wouldn’t use it).

At my baby shower we got a lot of stuff, but mostly clothes. I had told all my family that we didn’t need clothes (we got SO many hand me downs already) but people just can’t help themselves.

Baby showers are great, don’t get me wrong, and I appreciate that everyone cared enough to come and bring stuff for the baby, but it is overwhelming to have so many clothes. And sad because most of it will likely go to waste because big babies run in my family. Oh well.

I do strongly suggest keeping the babies name a secret though. Its so annoying to hear everyones thoughts and opinions on the name you choose.

I really don’t have much money but I want to donate them to an adoption agency in El Salvador. So something easy and not to expensive but sturdy. I thank you in advance!
I like the fleece idea but will it be too hot for El Salvador?

hi how do you want to make it?
if you can not sew you can buy fleece 2 peices cut around the edges in 1 inch thick and 1 in thick and knot them makes a very cute blnket and no sewing.
if you crochet they have many many nice soft yarns available.

Everytime I do the laundry the baby’s bibs end up sticking to each other, or anything else in the wash and the velcro is ruining the fabric. Anyone else come across this? and how do I stop it!
I’ve been washing them with the ends together, and I have tried just washing them on there own. They still come apart and then ruin the fabrics.

There are net bags you can put delicates into (like silk undies) so maybe one of them could work. Washing them with towels or blankets, rather than clothing, is also a good idea. Or denim! Voila is the word.

I just had a baby and wanna start restocking my closet with regular size clothes. I wanna basically revamp my whole wardrobe with pieces that will last through the seasons and not be too trendy that I can’t wear them again next year. Please help….

Heres my opinion on some popular, classic pieces that will last throughout the seasons (the ones with the * are my favorite) -

*Woven caps (beanies)

* Skinny jeans, or whatever your favorite style is, in dark denims

* Soft scarves that you can tie around your neck

* Ballet flats

- Wedge Heels

* Pea coats are a DEFINITE classic, I’ve had a black one for years and I wear it all the time!

* Chunky knit sweaters (you can wear them as a day look or on a cool, summer night) I absolutely LOVE wrap sweaters!

* Accessories! You can never go wrong with some cute bangles or a pendant necklace.

* Large tote bags (you could even use one as a diaper bag! My best friend has a large Coach tote she keeps all her daughters things in and it looks so much cuter than just carrying around her Pooh diaper bag!)

- Leggings

* A classic MUST is also a crisp, white shirt. You can play it up with the right necklace or just throw on a pair of jeans and head to the store. It’s really versatile. I love white collared shirts, the look so sophisticated!

- A pair of great-fitting black slacks. Black goes with anything. ‘Nuff said.

* Black heels!

- Fitted blazers. They can be dressed up or down and make you feel so chic in the frumpiest of moods.

* Leather boots! I LOVE THEM. They last forever and are GREAT over jeans or leggings this season, but you can switch it up and wear under jeans, with a cute dress to go out, or with anything. Best. Shoes. EVER.

There are so many pieces you can carry over throughout the year! Stick to items that you like and feel comfortable in and stay away from anything with large prints, graphics, strange colors (like mustard yellow!!! yuck) and anything over-the-top like frills, fringe, sequence, etc.. Im not saying you CANT have those, just use in moderation because most likely, a LOT of sparkle isn’t gonna be hot in a year, or maybe even a few months.

I hope some of these tips are helpful, and I’m going to list a few books that give some excellent tips and some websites that have some great clothes for even better prices!

Good Luck and congrats on your baby :o)

I am looking for some cute but uniqu baby names that start with the letter k boy and girl names, no weird celebrity type baby names but something cute and kind of different. Tried the websites and they were common or just extremly crazy names.

I’ve seen so many different designs on onesies with the "ABCD" by different companies. Doesn’t really answer your question, but I’d lean towards not licensed.

It seems like all baby boy clothes in stores are either baby blue or have sports, insects, or truck themes. I’d love for a mainstream store, like Target, to come out with some really cool clothes.

I am having a boy in September and recently while shopping at the local outlet center, I found a great collection at the Little Me store. It’s the giraffe collection and has different blues with chocolate brown. I love giraffes and the colors are different so I bought several outfits from the collection along with the matching socks. Since then, I have seen the same collection (just not all the pieces) at Babies-R-Us.
As someone else posted, Carter’s has some different choices also. They have a set out right now that says "Mommy’s Little Monster" and has these little dino-like monsters on it that I think is so cute so I had to get that too.
I have found some cute things at The Children’s Place, although their current newborn boy’s layette is kind of ugly.
Gymboree has some cute things. They are pricier, but I look for the discounted stuff. I recently bought some outfits there with whales on them.
Also, have you tried ebay? Or do you have a Burlington Coat Factory near you? An outlet center?
