After three years of courtship the love of your life proposes to you on Christmas Eve, and you marry that spring. Married love couldn’t agree with you both more and before you know two years goes by. You both decide that two years you are both ready to hear the sound of pitter patter feet. Waisting no time at all you quickly begin trying, after three months of trying you finally conceived. The pregnancy feels long and trying. Morning sickness lasted the duration of the pregnancy not to mention the 40lbs you gained from the Big Mac cravings. On September 21 you give birth to a healthy, glowing, baby boy. Since he was born on the Fall equinox you decide to give his first name a fall / autumn name and his middle name starts with a S

Your are over the moon about your baby boy, he is everything you could have ever hoped for an more. And without warning his third birthday arrived. Watching him blow out the three candles on top of his Sponge Bob cake got you thinking about having another baby. Your love was thrilled with the idea of adding of trying again. It seemed like it took no time at all before you conceived. The pregnancy this time was a bit easier, hardly a sign of morning sickness. And on February 14th you gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Her first name should have a love meaning, her middle name should start with an A.

A year later you gave birth on February 20 to a baby boy. The pregnancy was a shock and a great surprise. His first name means surprise and his middle name should mean gift.

With three kids you have your hands full, especially have two so closely in age that have you on your toes all day long. By the time your partner gets home from work you are so exhausted you barely can stay awake to spend time together. It wasn’t until several years later that you processed the thought of having one more girl to even the number. Your partner agreed to try for one more. And lucky for you, you got more then you bargained for. On December 25 you gave birth to three girls and a boy.

Do organic and ‘earth friendly’ baby products really make a difference?

No. I’d say that using organic products is probably the only way to ensure that your baby isn’t coming into contact with the harmful chemicals that are included in some big-brand products.

If you read the small print on the back of some baby products, you’ll see that they can contain nasty chemicals like butylparaben, ethylparaben and methylparaben (which can cause allergic reactions); Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (a corrosive cleaning agent); and Lauramide DEA, which has been connected to skin allergies, scalp itching and dermatitis.

The Earth Friendly Baby range is good - I don’t know if you’re already using it.

I’m 36 weeks along and I’m just trying to make sure I have everything I need. I got a lot of nice things at my baby shower and we bought a lot of stuff already… am I forgetting anything?

We have a crib, pack-n-play, car seat, stroller, swing, dresser, a hamper, and changing table.
We have blankets, towels, wash clothes, burp clothes, bibs.
We have lots and lots of clothes in all sizes.
We have a baby bath tub, baby soap/shampoo/lotion, a first aid kit.
We have baby monitors, thermometer, baby tylenol, nail clippers.
We have bottles, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, and a diaper bag
We’re going to get a high chair soon even though she won’t need it for a few months still.

Am I missing anything?

depending on the type of bottles you will be using, you may need the liners if you havent gotten them already. Diaper rash cream. At my shower I got 4 of these little rubber duckies which are actually thermometers for the bath water, on the bottom it says HOT in big white letters if the water is too hot, thaat was a good gift! I saw them at walmart. My mom told me to buy detergent for washing babies clothes and stuff in, something that is hypo allergenic and good for sensitive skin. Crib sheets. A bassinet if you are using one, I was told for the first 3 months they should sleep in one and not in a crib. A baby monitor so you can hear the baby when it wakes up, there are ones that can clip to your pants / belt and also sit on your bedside table. Something you dont need but might like to have is a mobile to hook to the crib. My boyfriend just bought one this weekend, it is so cute! He also bought a nightlight. Since your baby will be born in winter like mine, you will need a bunting bag if you dont have one already, and mittens for when you take her in the car. And there are those little mittens you put on them indoors and when they sleep, so that they cant scratch themselves.

i don’t know who heard my illness about my cancer mono and strep this may be the last/only family christmas so i want to make it the best my 11 month old baby Girl is so smart she is potty trained she runs and she can talk a little bit i don’t know if she should get a potty chart to help because she is 11 months she still makes accidents or snow toys or a big girl bed more clothes i don’t know and my new baby i have no idea!

You HAVE TO get the infant a "woobie" (a soft little blanky with a head of a frog, cat, or other animal. Both my babies are very attached to there’s and are soothed by it.Most baby departments of stores sell them.
Infants grow fast, so soon he/she will enjoy musical stuffed animals or toys that light up.

Toddlers like educational toys where they can press buttons and pull levers, ect. They like noisy toys!

I am at a loss to find a really thoughtful gift for her. She seems to have it all-loving husband, two twin baby girls, a great hostess job; and to top it all off, she is beautiful. She is stylish-but I haven’t the slightest idea what would impress her. Suggestions, please?

tickets to a show? a spa day? a nice handbag?

I’m 31 weeks pregnant so I still have a little bit until my baby boy arrives. I’ve been trying to think of a gift I could get for my husband after our baby is born. He leaves for a year deployment in Iraq 30 days after our baby is born so I’m trying to think of something he could take with him that wouldn’t get ruined. On one website I found these dog tags that you can personalize with the baby’s name, date of birth, time of birth, length, weight, etc. I thought that was neat since he’s in the Army.. He could keep them with his dog tags.. But I’m just looking for any other ideas?!

Any suggestions would be great! :) Thanks!

You have a really good idea there already !

i would do what you said it sounds perfect to me.

another option is a ring with dad on it but your idea is waaayyy better do what you said

seriously he will love it !!

Thoughts and opinions? Please be considerate and kind… I’m very self-conscious about my writing, and this is simply for fun.

/Sentences written in this format symbolize italics and past occurences./

———–

The item was hidden beneath Riley’s shirt, but the familiar shape was outlined in the thin fabric and easily distinguishable. I felt a smile tug at the corners of my lips and my hand immediately lifted to my own pendant, dangling from a copper chain that hung around my neck.

For a moment, I simply toyed with the small pendant that was my constant companion, a slight smile still gracing my features. After a while of inspecting the charm, I realized Riley was watching me carefully, a knowing smile causing his eyes to lighten perceptibly. “You know, I hardly ever take this off…” I whispered, lightly.

“Me neither… Only when I have to…” he offered as he lifted a hand to his own necklace and examined it carefully. “That was four years ago…”

I mumbled as I returned my attention to the small, but significant, object. Suddenly, I was assaulted with memories of this cherished item – my acorn pendant, given to me on my fourteenth birthday, directly from Riley.

Salem, New Jersey was well known for two things – it’s relation to the Hebrew term meaning ‘peace’ and it’s large Salem Oak tree. Riley was enthralled by anything related to that tree – the way it towered above all the rest, the way the colors would change from a vibrant green to burnt amber, even the acorns that fell from that specific tree were treasured by him.

For my fourteenth birthday, Riley was dead set on getting me something significant – something that would have a distinct symbolism and meaning. In attempt at achieving this goal, he had two necklaces custom made at a local Jewelry shop, and he made damn sure that every detail was adhered to. Mine was a copper acorn coupled with golden and bronze speckles that shone under proper lighting, my initials engraved into the back along with the year. His was nearly identical, but instead of an acorn, his was an Oak leaf. I could still hear his enthusiastic tone as he presented the gifts, eagerly explaining the importance and correlation of the two pendants.

/“They’re suppose to symbolize strength and protection, Sammie… You’ll always be my best friend.”/

I could also remember the tone of my voice as I teased him, staring down at the acorn in absolute adoration.

/“I’m the acorn, Riley? The baby?” I smirked, letting him know that I was only playing./

/His gaze lightened, his gray eyes shining with excitement and happiness as his smile grew impossibly larger. “Well… You are seven months younger than me,” he said, indifferently – his tone contradicting his facial expression./

I knew that he was only teasing – that the real reason I had gotten the acorn rather than the leaf was because, when I was younger, I had loved to collect them. Acorns were one-of-a-kind and they had always reminded me, distinctly, of myself. They intrigued me, and Riley knew this small fact for one simple reason…

/“I love acorns, Rye…” I said, disregarding his previous comment as I toyed with the necklace./

/“I know…”/

And he did.

Riley knew everything about me.

I could even remember the warmth that had consumed me at his words – the way I smiled and pulled him into a tight embrace while simultaneously confessing my adoration of the meager item. It was the best gift I’d ever gotten, and even now, my most valued and worshiped belonging.

Warning: It’s unfortunate that you’re self-conscious, because I tend to be blunt in my reviews. Just remember that I’m only pointing out your mistakes for your own benefit. You have to learn from these things. I’ll give you your praises after I give you your corrections.

-First sentence: the word "recognizable" would work better than "distinguishable"
-You’re repeating the word "smile" too often
-" “Me neither… Only when I have to…” he offered as he lifted a hand to his own necklace and examined it carefully. “That was four years ago…” "
There’s no need to use ellipses. Just make them periods. Also, "he offered"; wrong word choice, I think. He’s not offering anything before or during his dialogue. Finally, the pendant was under his shirt, so he’d have to pull it out before he could examine it.
-"I was assaulted with memories…" Assaulted has a negative connotation, the pendant is a symbol of strength and protection, as well as the implied meanings of trust and friendship. Unless you had a specific reason for using that word, I suggest choosing a nicer one.
-I’m not convinced that your use if italics is warranted. I know that it’s not necessary, since you can just change the verb tense instead, but I’m not sure if it’s actually considered wrong or not.
-"It was the best gift I’d ever gotten"
Gotten = received.

Your grasp of the language is very good, and I think you have the beginnings of a good story here. Most of the things I corrected above were very small issues, mostly related to grammar and diction. I have nothing bad to say about your style (with the possible exception of the italics. I still see no reason for them to be there), flow, or creativity. So overall I think I’d give this a 7.5/10, or in other words it’s pretty good for a young writer. Keep going with this, and don’t let people’s corrections/crits get you down. When people tell you that something was done wrong, or that it could be done in a better way, it’s not a personal insult, just a suggestion to help you learn and grow. And grow you will, so long as you keep practicing.

I live in a very rural area and the nearest retailers (that I have to basically drive an hour to get to) are Walmart, Kmart, Target, JC Penney, and Sears…(Yeah, I know. Where I live sucks. Would love for my husband to get transferred, but ah, well..)
Anyway, I have 3 boys and they are so totally not into cartoon character clothes or preppy little khaki and polo shirt ensembles. I am looking for some retailers that carry nice worn jeans, preferably with a few rips and T shirts advertising bands or at least guitars. I have a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and a 2 year old. I am mostly looking for things for the 6 year old, so size 6. Every time I try to google "cool boy clothes" or anything like that, it basically brings up baby clothes.
So, if anyone can suggest some stores that I can check out some trendy clothes online, I would be very thankful.

hottopic.com (band tee and skinny jean heaven :)
ipso-facto.com (maybe too big for your kids but … :)
sears.com (really good for classic album shirts like metallica’s Master Of Puppets and many guitar shirts)
target.com
Amazon.com
Spencers.com ( I am suggesting for the band tees NOT for the bad stuff! )
thats mostly where I shop
Try Goodwill and Value Village too :)
Majic Mart is also pretty decent i think :)
