We need a lot of onesies obviously and i do not like how when i go to shop for them i have to pay like 8 bucks for a 3 pack. I was wondering if anyone knew were i can get a BIG pack of onesies that do not cost an arm and a leg?

We have a place here called Everything for Kids. It is sort of a consignment shop, but they also sell newer items. Onesies are between 25 and 50 cents each, depending on whether or not they are having a sale.
I’d check around in your area and see if you have anything like that.
Also, search yahoo and see if there is a freecycle group for your area. I have received a lot of free baby clothes from there.

Hi. I am wanting to buy a sewing/ embroidery machine for the least price possible. I am wanting to START sewing and monogramming things, your simple projects…such as baby gifts, pjs etc…(i am definitely a beginner) .The main thing I am looking for is to monogram. I found the brother se 350 on walmart.com for a reasonable price 380$, but I am afraid to get it without having someones personal opinion! I read all of the reviews and all, but since I know NOTHING about machines it is all so foreign! The only thing that prevents me from getting that one, is that it only embroiders a 4×4 area and I am thinking that may not be a big enough area?? But i don’t know!! What should I look for in a combo machine like this? I would like to be able to add fonts and letters to the machine, but I don’t want to pay a fortune for them. I know some machines have a usb port that allows you to download stuff from the internet,,is that expensive to do? And this one has some kind of card reader?? Does that allow you to do basically same thing? Anyway, please help me decide what to do! Thanks!

Brother is not a brand I recommend. It’s become well known in the last few years because of its cross licensing agreement with Disney. It’s the only brand that has all the cute Disney characters. But, when I was working, we saw too many of them in the shop.

Start by going to a dealer that sells more than one brand of machine. You need to decide between an embroidery only machine and a sewing and embroidery system. The embroidery only machines usually have smaller sewing fields and a limited ability to receive designs from other sources. The combined systems give you a regular sewing machine plus the embroidery capability. I would suggest that you consider Bernina, Janome and Viking. These are solid brands with good manufacturing and engineering behind them.

Be sure to buy from a store that offers lots of classes to teach you how to use your machine. Embroidery is a very large undertaking and there’s a lot to learn.

Is it tacky to give both the wedding gift AND the shower gift at the shower?

My husband and I got the couple the bedding set that they registered for. The comforter set is quite large, and we’d rather not have to deal with it at the wedding reception. For the shower gift, we got them a holiday dish set. Much smaller than a comforter set, but also much heavier. We have an infant, and she does not travel lightly!

The best gift I can think of for baby’s Baptism is a gold medal of the Immaculate Conception to pin to the child’s baptismal garment. Often this is a gift of a godparent, so it’s wise to check first. If I sent a package to Trinidad, that contained a baby album with baby’s pictures in it, would they charge me family customs fees?? I ask because I sent gifts to my family and they were charged enormous fees for the GIFTS, that I sent in a small box

FYI Customs Duties are normally assessed and chargec by the Receiving Country in order for the receiptent to receive that particular incoming pakage. The US Post Office would only charge & collect from you at ypur local post offce if somethin valuable exceeded the $ limits that are clearly defined.

What I am saying is your family in Trinidad must deal and talk directly to the postal authorities in Trinidad and there is not much you can do on this end…
