Hey all!

My dear cousin is having her baby shower on Sunday. This will be her third child, but first boy. I recently had a little boy and I’ve given her all of his baby clothes.

I cannot show up empty handed so I have decided to make her a gift basket. I know she needs essentials like bottles, pacifiers, etc.

So far I’ve thought about the following:

1. bottles
2. pacifiers
3. blanket
4. baby book
5. teddy bear

Anything else I should include or omit?

Thanks in advance!

Heyaa I Was Thinking Maybe:
- Powder
- Lotions
- Baby Oil
- Diapers
- Rattles
- Baby Socks or Baby Booties
- Photo Frame
- Baby Scrap Book
- Baby Cutlery Set
- Some Baby Food (Fruityy Stuff Maybe)
- Baby Hat
- A Cute Little Music Box
- Changing Bag

Hope I Helped :) x

so i have like 5 babys coming in about 3 months that i need to get gifts for.
the 1st is my brothers 1st son, (gonna be aunt!) hes in the navy and is over in japan with his wife. i need to get him some baby gifts but it has to be something packagable.
the next is my 2 best friends.
prepare yourselfs
identical twin girls, both pregnant, 3 days apart, with baby boys… and the fathers are brothers
lol.
this is a tough one because i want to get the both the same amount and quality but also be personalized for each mother/baby. (they shared everything in life i dont want their babies gifts to be exact to)

the next 2 babies are from coworkers, not as important as the rest but still need to get them something.

also! im a college student, money is tight, any bargain baby buys and ideals is greatly appreciated.

any good websites, ideals, bargains, stores etc is all greatly appreciated

Target and Burlington have the BEST baby sections.. also, avoid babies r us, as they are sooo expensive…

I would check to see if they have registries, if not you could always make up baskets (using cute baskets they can use in the nursery) and put in diapers, wipes, onsies, toys, and you could buy some plain bibs and burp cloths and have them monogrammed even could do that with the onsies.. I LOVED my personalized gifts.

You could also do the same by filling up a personalized diaper bag if you know their taste.

Avoid buying newborn outfits, you get a ton of them and some babies only wear them for a few weeks.

My husband and I are going to attempt baby very budget friendly and dont want to buy a bunch of useless things we aren’t going to use, or only use a few times. What are the most useful items out there that are actually worth the money?

I think the most useful are carseat, stroller, baby diapers, wipes and clothes. It actually worth the money.

Or frankincense for that matter? Hell! Now that I think about it, what use does a baby have for gold?

Is it just me, or did the three quote-unquote "wise" men have absolutely NO clue as to what was an appropriate gift for a newborn baby?

Actually Frankincense and Myrrh were what was typically offered to pagan gods in ritual.

The story of Jesus is largely based on pagan roots.

-scotgirl: you make me laugh -you tie obscure symbolic meanings not specifically mentioned to a gift and you deny the fact the pagans commonly used these specific spices as offerings in rituals during this time period.

I’ll tell you something you probably don’t know as well- most historians believe the 3 "wise" men to be pagan astrologers. The idea that Jesus had to be born on an auspicious night astronomically gives more credit to the story in the eyes of the (superstitious) ancients.

I think some people are confused…I WILL be washing his clothes seperately, but i wanted to know if it was best to get a seperate hamper as well.

It’s up to you. There’s no harm in using the same hamper.

I am going to put together my 19 month old daughter’s Easter basket instead of buying one. I am going to put in lots of chocolate eggs and more kids of chocolate with The White rabbit stuffed animal from Alice in Wonderland. I was thinking of also including a book of something to do with bunnies. What else should I put in it? I want it to be unique.

Oh, and should I also include the fake grass? Do you think it’s necessary for that easter feel? I really don’t like when it gets everywhere and it doesn’t really serve a purpose. Should I line the basket with something else?

What about some new pairs of undies? She sounds like she is around potty training time. Bubbles, crayons or playdoh. I would do without the fake grass, she wouldn’t notice the difference at this age anyway. I don’t think you really have to line the basket but maybe you could find a little blanket would do the trick. Just some ideas, have fun easter shopping!

I need to some yummy finger food ideas and other foods that would be good to serve at a baby shower.

Thanks!

It depends on what the theme is! And what time the party takes place (breakfast food in the mornings, tea time, etc) In general my favorite baby shower foods are:

Scones ( http://www.joyofbaking.com/scones.html ) with Devonshire Cream ( http://www.recipezaar.com/Devonshire-Cream-for-Scones-230378?scaleto=4&sys=e ) and I usually get some berries to go with it-strawberries, raspberries, blackberries etc.

My favorite dessert is cheesecake-white chocolate raspberry is the best kind as far as I’m concerned ( http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/White-Chocolate-Raspberry-Cheesecake/Detail.aspx ).

Turkey and cranberry finger sandwiches ( http://home.att.net/~dfaglon/tearecipe.html#smoked4 ) are good for something a little more savory.

Pasta salad (any kind is AWESOME!) and a regular salad (my favorite is spinach and feta with apple chunks and walnuts topped with raspberry vinaigrette).

A light soup (Italian Wedding Soup, Squash, Egg Drop, Vegetable, etc)

I also like to have at least one baby themed food (could be a cake with special decoration, or baby bootie shaped cookies-something like that)

Have fun-baby showers are great!

Yes, it sounds like you have everything you need!! :) Great job! One thing I wanted to share with you, is make sure you have a lot of fitted crib sheets, and the waterproof pads (or fitted pads) that go underneath the fitted crib sheets, because babies sometimes puke or have poo explosions while in the crib, and it can make for a mess! I would suggest to have at least 7 fitted crib sheets, because babies can get messy! Lol I learned that by experience. Good luck with your pregnancy and delivery, and congratulations to you on that beautiful to-be baby! :)

everyone tells me if you go baby shopping before ur 3 months you can jinx yourself and ur baby. is that true?

That is not true, and if you did loose your baby and you went shopping before 12 weeks it would be a pure coincidence.
