My sisters having a baby girl in august and i want to make a little hamper for her and the baby but i want to make it really nice i want to have a go at making some of my own things and buy somethings does anyone have any ideas what to put in there ? any websites or anything im on a budget also thanks x
Shes also has the theme jungle with animals and all that
I think a hamper is a lovely idea for your sister.
I suggest some diapers, a blanket, soft toy, possibly an outfit and some things for mom.
My aunty’s baby shower is in exactly 1 week and i still dont have a gift. Its a boy. And I want something really special. Thanks!
Do you have a plaster painting shop by you? I painted my niece a piggy bank for her 1st birthday. You might also be able to find a bank at a craft store.
When I had my baby my brother’s girlfriend made her a plaque to hang on her wall. She bought a wooden plaque and some letters to spell out her name and painted it all and glued it together. Of course you would have to know the name to do this.
You could tye dye/decorate (or something similar) some onesies for the baby.
At my shower the ladies used fabric markers to decorate burp cloths.
You could make some sort of mobile, maybe if you know some origami or something like that.
You could take photographs of baby like things/paint pictures and create wall hangings.
Create some sort of photo album or baby book where they can record memories. You can get a lot of stuff for that in the scrapbooking section at craft stores.
Best of luck! Handmade gifts are the best.
From the time I was a baby my parents have used a nickname for me. Some of my friends didn’t learn my real name right away because my nickname isn’t the typical diminutive like Beth for Bethany.
obviously for the ceremony my legal name has to be used. But I’m wondering what to do for monograms? ( My real name and nickname start with different letters)
And what about invitations? All of his family know me as my nickname, and none of our friends use my real name. It’s not going to turn into a case of guests not knowing who’s inviting them to a wedding, but I’m wondering if I should use the nickname anywhere?
Any brides or those with similar situation please help me out.
If you go by a nickname over your given name, and if everybody is familiar with that name, then use that on the invitations. You could also say ‘Elizabeth (Bunny) Masterson invites you to blah blah blah’ and put your nickname in brackets so people know who they’re being invited by.
If you’re one of those people with an unfortunately unattractive first name and you prefer to use a middle name or nickname, then by all means do so. Nobody is forcing you to put Zonzabelle on invitations if everybody knows you as Elli. You’ll only need such things on the legal documentation.
As for monograms, you can elect to just use one letter (your last name), or you can decide what you like best and use more frequently. My nickname and given name don’t start with the first letter, either, and I typically only use my full given name on documents. When I do monogrammed things like stationery or towels I generally use the first letter of my given name simply because it’s more attractive in cursive.
Pick the letter that you think is prettier when written out. An R could be made a lot fancier than an O, for example.
That said, by the time all is said and done, most people will have heard your full name at one point or another.
In short, use whatever you feel most comfortable with. You won’t be judged one way or another. If I put my full name on invitations I don’t think anybody would know who they were coming from! As for the monograms, I DO use the first letter of my given name.

HOPE YA HAD FUN!
I had to do this years ago in one of my Home and Careers classes. I think I ended up with a high 4 digit number.
Not to mention, your list doesn’t include toys and the like. A lot of the stuff you listed would be given at a baby shower, assuming you had one. Then their clothing size changes all the time so you have to update their wardrobe all the time.
Then we had to figure out how much cash it takes to raise a child until they’re about 18. It was upwards close to a million bucks.
What’s a cute saying to say inside a card for a baby gift?
or something cute to write on the inside of a book for the baby?
Goo goo gaa gaa
when do you stop using baby products such as baby laundry detergent, baby safe household wipes, etc.? how old should your child be? (am i stuck paying more to buy the baby sutff for the rest of my life?)
How old is your child?
Mine is almost 2 1/2. I’ve NEVER used baby laundry detergent… Tide Free is what I’ve always used since I refused to buy "special" detergent. However, I still use baby bath soap, along with baby wipes and pull-ups (we’re working on potty training). Yesterday, I was thinking about switching his soap. It’s great soap, but it might be less expensive if we share.
I really don’t have an exact age since I still use plenty of baby items. But my personal opinion, you are the parent. No one can tell you how to raise your child. If you don’t want to use baby items, don’t. The only suggestion I would have is switch one item at a time. You never know what the child might be allergic to or have a sentimental issue with… i.e. baby shampoo equals bath and cuddletime. Switch an item, wait a week, if no "issues" make another switch.
Hope this helps.
The one gift that I treasure from when my daughter’s got baptized is a tiny, linen, white baby hat that becomes a white hanky for them to carry on their wedding day. I wish I could tell you where the person got it.
The girls each wore theirs on the day they were baptized and it is put away awaiting their wedding day, so they will have their something old to carry.
Would you buy gift baskets for babies from markets?
good quality gift hampers/baskets for babies from the markets if price range was $15-$25 and range from 4-12 gifts in each hamper/basket.
just wanted to know for future small home based buisness.
sets would be made up of anything from
1- baby products like bathing products, creams, powders etc
2- bottles, rattles, dummies,bibs,towels etc
3- outfits: 1 peice suit, hat/bonnet/beanie, socks etc
4- random mixtures including books, flashcards, feeding sets tc
plus lots more
would be clearly packaged so can see whats inside. mix of girls boys and unisex packs
i would make them myself, im a stay at home mum of 1 so have lots of time on my hands thouht this was a great way of making extra cash
Yes that’s a good idea. You also can make cakes out of pampers and or face cloths. you decorate it with lace n tiny baby pacifiers, babies, flowers, pins ,bears
when you found out you were pregnant, when did you start shopping for things for the baby?
i was gonna wait for the clothes and things like that. i meant the big things like a crib and stroller and things like that.
well i went to the store all the time and looked at baby things…i never bought anything though bc i recieved sooo much at my baby shower…actually alot of useless stuff like newborn clothes and its nice but trust me save your money till after the shower for things you need!
(:
Okay, I know this may sound silly but I’m not sure when the right time is to register and how many places can I register? I don’t want to seem rude. Which I guess no one would really have to know anyway unless I told them. Correct?
Anytime you want. You may want to start a bit early,at a month if not two months before your shower invitations go out. So you can list where you are registered on your invitations and so you have enough to time to edit and really figure out what you want on it. I had two registries. One at Target and one at Wal-mart. Most of the stuff was on my Target registry and that is the one most people bought from.
