I have a friend whom had a baby boy that was stillborn at fullterm, she has since gotten pregnant and is going to have a baby girl. I am wanting to get a her a gift for the baby girl that would be a little memorial as well for her brother…..I am just not sure what to get, any suggestions? I know from experience of having two baby brothers die that I would have loved to have something to touch just with thier names on it…..it would have meant so much.
I love all the ideas, I love the build a bear the most so far…..let me ask this….do think the mom would be ok with that? It’s kind of a touchy subject….I mean do you think she would be offended if I got something for her new baby in rememberance kinda of the other baby….I think its sweet but I don’t want to do something that is a faux pas……I have never been in that situation and don’t know what to do.
When I lost a baby my mom got me a little necklace with a charm that had a baby footprint and the baby’s birthstone. I wore it for a year after my loss, and now keep it in a special box in my jewelry box.
Ok. So we don’t have a lot of money and as talented as I believe I am when it comes to art and creativity I just don’t want to flop, you know? So I don’t want to go out and pull out a small business loan or anything like that. I’m going to sell online and make the clothes at home. I think they’re going to be awesome. Really trendy and new. I can’t decide on how much to spend! I found TONS of fabric I love and I don’t know how often they come and go or if I’ll ever see the same thing twice. What if I buy something in particuar and people LOVE it? So I guess I don’t know how many yards to buy because I don’t know how many outfits I should start out with… Any experience out there or input or advice or even just an incoherent mumble?
You can sell them on etsy.com its a place where you can sell handmade stuff.
Good luck
My baby hardly used any of his clothes and toys and they are in good condition, I tried craglist but no luck, cant have a garage sale since i live in an apartment so any idea if there are any stores in the State of maryland that would buy gently used baby stuff. Im looking for stores in the Gaithersburg, Rockville, Germantown area thanks!
Why buy from the store and pay sales tax. Internet shopping for Toys are the way.

My cousin is due to have her son on 13th april and her mum is arranging a baby shower for 4th. I am planning to make a baby hamper with my mum. She has knitted some mittens, cardigans and hats and i was thinking of putting in some muslin squares, toiletries, booties etc. What else should we include in the hamper?
Great idea, I love hampers!
Might I suggest:
*diapers
*baby washclothes
*"baby on board"sign for car
*window shades or clings
*rubber duckie (specifically, the "Munchkin" brand which says "HOT" on the bottom, it turns from blue to white if the baby’s bathtub water is too hot)
Is she bottle or breast feeding? If she’s breastfeeding, include a nursing wrap
If she’s bottle feeding, a bottle brush and a bottle warmer would be good.
These are things that I usually give at showers, the mothers frequently tell me they never thought to ask for things like that. You don’t want to give her too many bibs or teething rings, these are items which aren’t usually on people’s lists.
Ok, i will be finalizing my adoption of a foster child that i have been caring for since may of 2009. My experience with NJ DYFS has been a great one, and i would like to show my gratitude to the social workers who have helped me by giving them a nice gift. I was planning on giving them a personalize portfolio or something of that nature (you know something that would be put to use) i just didn’t know what to have it personalized with… i want something that sounds nice- something to let them know how appreciative i am for having them place such an awesome baby boy with me.
ps- i am open to other ideas it does not have to be a portfolio- it can be anything good.
also the personalizing website only allows 40 characters (that’s including the space between words)
DYFS workers are not permitted to accept gifts of value. A nice picture frame with a photo of your new son would be appropriate, as long as the gift is less than, say, $20, they should be able to accept it. A letter to their supervisor commending their work would be greatly appreciated. Send them a copy and a copy to the office manager. Congratulation on your adoption!
I am currently in the process of setting up a gift hamper business for newborn babies and their mothers.
There will be a large baby hamper, a small baby hamper and a new mums hamper available ( the baby hampers will be available in pink, blue or yellow)
But am struggling to come up with good names for the business that have never been used before… any ideas?
Thanks!!

You’ve just heard your best friend has given birth! What shop(s) would you typically buy a gift from for the new baby? How much would you spend? What type of thing would you buy?
Mamas and Papas I wouldn’t spend more than 40£
I would get a few baby rompers ranging in sizes 1 newborn maybe 2 0-3 months 3-6 since babies grow quickly… and a soft rattle or swaddling blanket
they usually have a new baby gift basket with lots of little things inside that can be useful for a new mom…
I was given a bunch of stuff to try and sell at a garage sale, and have some good quality baby items left over (clothes, a few new bottles and some sort of educational bouncer seat). I really don’t want to simply give it to just anyone on Craig’s list, and there are no nearby pregnancy centers that are still operating. Obviously people who use WIC services are lower income families, so do the WIC offices accept used baby items for the needy parents?
Thanks for the website, Carrie!
honeslty, even to get wic you cxould still have a nice chunk of income. its not like everyone who is on wic gets foodstamps and other help form the government i think you can make more then 30,000 and still receive wic. so not EVERYONE there is TOO needy. but at my local wic office there isd a bin of clothes/shoes toys whatever most of the stuff always looks so old and worn down. i would donate to a church before wic
I put baby socks in a mesh laundry bag that zips to prevent the dreaded "washer ate the socks" routine LOL but I do wash all baby laundry together. Once he is about 6months old I will start washing all of his stuff with regular clothes.
When do babies usually develop problem solving skills? When do they usually recognize patterns? Is doing these things early a sign of autism or is it possible to tell early on that a baby is intellectually gifted?
*crickets*
I agree, I think parents are over paranoid about autism and the "signs" are so sketchy.
Ok, I will give it a shot.. Lol
I would think… that someone might be abe to tell around 10 months or so. If they are able to start figuring out shape sorters and how some toys for lets say a 12 month old might work.
I would NOT think it was a sign of autism at all though. I feel that is a medical term that is thrown around this website way too much.
