besides them young shepherds in the field, but the foreigners, three gifts means three men’s or there were many of them that came but three have the heart and/or money to buy the gifts for the newborn King…?

The bible never says that there were 3 wise men. It only mentions the 3 gifts.

Matthew 2:1 indicates that the wise men came sometime after the birth of Jesus. It was not during His birth, as is customary to the nativity scenes that we are familar with. The event of the wise men more than likely took place after Jesus was dedicated to God in the temple. I’d say Jesus was about 2 years old when the wise men presented Him with gifts. In that case, Jesus was a todler not an infant. What is your view?

Note also that Matthew states the Magi visited them in "a house", not in a stable. It does seem to indicate that following their trip from Nazareth for their taxation, that they remained in Bethlehem. That was Joseph’s home town and his family was there. as Nazareth was a tiny place with only a couple hundred homes where their major industry was funerals (most of the "town" was graveyards), Joseph probably felt he had a better chance finding work and supporting his family in Bethlehem.

The idea of "2 years" came from Herod’s order to kill all male children up to that age. There is evidence to show the Quirinius was governor over Syria for his first term between 6 and 5 BC, and that Herod died in 4 BC. So Jesus could have been born as early as 6BC, lived in Bethlehem for a time, and the gone to Egypt until 4BC. How long he was in Egypt is also not given.

It appears the oldest that Jesus could have been when the Magi visited was 2. Born in 6 BC and fled in 4 BC to only be in Egypt for a few weeks before Herod died. For the trip to be worthwhile, he probably went to Egypt before he was 2. But he did not flee to Egypt the night of his birth.

If nothing else, he remained in the Jerusalem area for eight days so he could be circumcised at the temple, according to Luke 2.

Following their time in Egypt, Joseph was afraid to return to Bethlehem, so he and Mary returned to her home town of Nazareth instead. It was a obscure, out of the way place where they felt they could raise Jesus without anyone seeing them. Nobody went to Nazareth. It was in the middle of nowhere.

I bought a "Precious Moments" kit at a craft-store and made an impression of my daughter’s hand. It looks like a little hand-statue. But it’s very sweet and shows me how little she once was.

My favorite gifts were the gift baskets. They came with so many useful things and I received a few different types of them. Such as, a bath time one, a sweet dreams gift basket, and a baby care basket. A bonus about the baskets is that you can reuse them to store things.

So i just got the privilege of being a godmother (for the very first time!) to my cousins son that lives in Haiti. I am very excited about the opportunity and i am going down to Haiti next summer for the ceremony. I wanted to know, what kind of gift should i buy my new godson?
He’s going to be born in December. And the ceremony would be in July.

When we do the same.

A girl I know had every person in the family/going to the shower sew a square of a quilt with a different letter then later had it sewed together by a friend. What is something similar I could so for a friend that’s having a baby shower that each person could make a piece and out it together later?

the quilt was a great idea! another idea might be a scrapbook…similar to a baby book that the parents can fill out, but it’s made by the friends & family, much more personal. the various pages would include info related to the family instead of a generic "one size fits all" type of book from the store.

i need baby boy names that start with c. they need to mean gift or gift from god.

My co-worker is having a baby. She is having one shower at her house this weekend. Which I already got the gift for. However, my other co worker as just informed that we are also having an office baby shower for her and that I need to pay for my share of the office gift. um? I dont think I should have to buy her two gifts, any comments?

No, you absolutely do not… Just explain that you have been invited tot he shower at her house and you will be buying your own personal gift for that… If the wanted a really small donation, then I would probably put it in anyway, but if they want a substantial amount say no way…
