When its hot out, do you still have to wrap the baby up in blankets?

its my day to watch the baby and I want to go to the baseball game with my buddies. How do I get her ready to take her out? Do I need all the blankets and stuff? If so, how do I keep her from getting hot?
She’s 3 weeks.
Nevermind. My fiance says I cant go. I feel really whipped right now.

Are you sure taking her to a baseball game with your friends is a good idea? If she is only 3-weeks old, she will have to be fed about every 2 hours. Not to mention the noise and will you be drinking?

I would have to say, skip the game and enjoy a little one on one with your daughter.

No you don’t need all the blankets just use baby sunscreen on her every 2 hours that way she does not get a sun burn. Take lots of liquid for her so she does not get dehydrated too.

You’re going to take a 3 week old to a baseball game? That should be interesting. I really don’t think a baby that young would enjoy being out in the hot weather that long.

Take a light blanet with you. You also need to keep her covered and out of the sun as much as possible—she’s too young for sunscreen, so all of the responsibility is on you. Does she have a sun hat? Or a baseball hat that will help keep the sun off of her face? Try to sit where it’s shaded and be aware that concrete reflects sunlight, too.

make sure you keep her out of the sun. babies generally need one more layer of clothes than an adult. make sure the clothes are breathable, you don’t want her to sweat! a baby is not supposed to wear sunscreen before 6 months of age.

No, she doesnt need blankets in the summer.
She DOES, however, need to be kept in the shade; she needs a hat, light breathable fabrics that cover her, and sunglasses if possible.

WATCH HER CAREFULLY for signs of heatstroke, if it is really hot: sweating, listlessness, rolling eyes, clamminess….babies that young can get overheated VERY quickly. If she does get overheated, cold compresses and ice packs in the armpits and groin will help bring her temp down and then take her to the ER.

I don’t know where you are, but today in Texas where I am it is 95 degrees with about 60% humidity. I can hardly stand it out, and wouldn’t take me baby out in this except to maybe take him to the mall to walk around.

PLEASE be careful with your tiny girl. Good luck!

She is three weeks old. Can’t you just take one day to do things she might enjoy instead of being selfish. You are a parent now, you don’t always get to do what you want.

Think about what you would need for a day at home with her. And then plan accordingly.

Blankets a must. As mentioned you are going to need it to shade her from the sun, like a tent.

I would also suggest sunscreen. Think about your skin, and how it probably burns at a game. Have fun!

First of all how old is the baby? If it is extemely hot put lots of sunscreen on her and try to keep her shaded. Let her go barefeet and there are sun suits for babies. Be sure she wears a bonnet. Yu can always drap a blanket over the front of the stroller if there is no shade. Make sur you have liquids for her to drink.

Do NOT wrap the baby in blankets! Would YOU want to be wrapped in blankets in the heat?! If you must go to this game, make sure she has sunblock on that has a high SPF. (the higher the number, the better it protects) and keep her from overheating or getting dehydrated. Make sure she’s out of the direct sunlight. Put her in her car seat or stroller with the hood over, to keep her shaded as much as possible. Put her in light clothing. Hope that helps! Make sure that diaper bag has everything you’ll need for more than the time you think you’ll be at the game. Especially extra formula/bottles.

Personally, I wouldn’t take a three-week-old to a game unless it’s a local game that you can find a place in the shade and leave early if need be without forfeiting ticket fees. Your buddies could wait for the next one. Your baby will likely be stressed at a noisy game, even if she’s kept comfortable.

For hot weather, however, dress the baby lightly, in something like a cotton onsie. Then wrap loosely in a light receiving blanket. Even if she doesn’t need the warmth, she’ll prefer to have a blanket around her for security. Keep another warmer blanket or two with you, and a change of clothes in the diaper bag. Take a bottle of water and a soft cloth along so you can wipe her face and neck if she does get warm. Do NOT expose her to the sun… that means her eyes as well as her skin.

Please reconsider going to the game. This is one of those things where you could possibly end up looking back and wishing you’d made a better decision.

Sorry buddy, but a 3 week old is way too young to have out all day at a ballgame. Sunscreen can’t be used until your baby is over 6 months. Some of the fun things we enjoyed before baby just have to be postponed for a while.

Please don’t wrap her! She will be sooooo hot and cranky! Dress her in as much or as little clothing as you are wearing and she will be fine. You can bring a light blanket just in case it gets cooler later in the day. Make sure she wears a sun hat and try to keep her out of the sun as much as possible since she is too young for sunscreen. Good luck!

Ryan, you can not be serious about going to a baseball game with the baby. They have issued an advisory for adults to stay inside, dont you watch TV? Sometimes, I wonder about you. What time does the game start? I get off work at 4. I will watch her until her mom gets in.

My god no blankets please!!!! I have had my baby out and about since day five. Wether it be it the carrier, stroller, or out in the car seat. Dress a baby the same way you want to be dressed. Just remember to keep the sun off. At three weeks old she’s too little for sunscreen really. Keep her shaded. Buy a nice sun hat. I take my little boy out in just a t-shirt on really hot days.

The best way to tell their temperature is to feel the nape of their neck. Don’t check their hands or feet; it’s inaccurate. If it’s too hot take off a layer, too cold add a layer. Remember babies lose a lot of heat from their heads.
