A good friend of my will be having a baby soon.. I don’t want to get her clothes because i know everyone else is going to be giving her clothes.
Does any mommies have a unique idea i can do?
I was planning on buying a medium size basket like a laundry basket like this:

and i was planning to buy wipes and baby things such as nail clippers and thermometer, bottles (she said she will be needing bottles) bottle brush etc. and baby books!
Is this a good idea?
or i wanted to get her diapers with a personalized blanket with the baby name?
i think that is a really cute idea. you can buy the basket and then put the diapers, wipes, nail clippers, thermometer, bottles, and bottle brush in it. thats a really good idea and your friend would be very appreciative of it.
suggestions:
bibs, binkeys, crib sheets, recieving blankets, wash cloths, a baby towl with a hood, baby lotion, baby soap, or baby sunscreen.
hopes this helps!!!:)

Sounds like a good idea. You can always use baby wash, baby lotion, extra wipes, diapers, baby powder, bibs, anything really that you can think of.
A personalized baby blanket is a good gift … I used a ton of blankets for my son but some mothers don’t like blankets as gifts.

Yes a great gift idea. That way when the child gets older your friend can put other things in it.

Sounds good to me.
I got about 10 blankets because like every person I ever met who quilted or knit made me one. Just keep that in mind in case there are a lot of crafters in her family.
Other good things to put in the basket:
* water proof clothes (good for going under baby’s bum on changing table, good burp clothes)
* piddle pad (a cloth that goes under baby’s bum in the car seat)
* baby feeding spoons (she won’t need them right away, so probably no one will get them for her)
* bibs (get ones with plastic backing)
* baby wash, baby shampoo, wash cloths, baby lotion, diaper rash cream
* toys like rattles
When getting books and toys, look for ones with black and white or high contrast colors. Those are what baby sees best at first.

I like your idea. One of the best gifts I got was from my aunt who has 4 kids. She said she just made a basket with everything a first time parent wouldn’t think to buy. From what I remember she gave baby tylenol, mylicon drops, alcohol wipes for cleaning the umbilical cord, a medicine dropper, bandaids, stuff like that.
Also my other favorite gift I recieved was a blanket for my daughter. It was just a regular blanket that she bought from the store, but then she wrote my daughter a personalized poem that had her name on it and stuff and had it put on like fabric and then she sewed it onto the blanket. Very cute and my daughter will be able to have her own blanket for years to come.
