Is it rude to give baby gifts to charity?

I’m 22 weeks pregnant with twins
my and my bf (cayo) family from africa and south and central america keep sending clothes now we have a huge surplus (especially booties we got about 90 somthing now ) and we were thinking about giving the extras to charity (it really hard cuz they are all so cute!!!) but…..

is that impolite

There are times when it’s not right to give away gifts given to you, but in your case.. I don’t think your twins will need 90 booties. Besides, they always manage to kick them off the moment you turn around.

It isn’t rude, in my culture. You need to ask your relatives to stop sending so many items you don’t need. Perhaps ask them to send you something you do need instead.

When a gift is given it becomes yours.
I can think of no better thing than to donate your extras to charity.
    Good luck.

If these are brand new still-wrapped items, you could sell them on eBay

Of course not, it’s a charity, they need donations. Go right ahead and keep sending your things to them, I’m sure some mother somewhere is very grateful to have them.

The only time when it is really embarresing to give gifts away is when you give it to someone who is known to the gift giver as well and then they see their gift in the other person’s house again and they will feel very upset. Charity is a very good thing as you are helping mothers who cannot afford to give their children all these things you can give your children. You can also tell your family that you have enough things and if they really want to give you something than it should be diapers, formula, baby food, because these are things that are really expensive and needed. Babies grow out of their clothes so fast anyways.

    I THINK THIS IS GREAT!

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME WHEN MY SON WAS BORN. HIS AUNT LIVED WITH US AND SHE WORKED AT JC PENNY. SHE BOUGHT HIM A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF CLOTHES! I JUST HAD TO DONATE SOME OF THEM. YEA HIS AUNT GOT UPSET BUT AFTER A WHILE SHE GOT OVER IT. I MEAN C’MON YOU CANNOT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR ALL THAT STUFF! AND THERE ARE TEEN PARENTS OR LOW INCOME PARENTS WHO REALLY NEED IT.
