Do I need pants to go with all these onesies?

Ok, I got seriously like a hundred onesies at my baby shower. Can’t take hardly any back because they didn’t give gift receipts. My question is, don’t I need some pants to go with these? Baby is due in May so it will be spring, but I only have a few pairs of pants. Will I end up just putting her in a onesie and that’s it?

depending on the weather where you live you might end up just putting baby in a onesie…if even that much. Its starting to get a lot warmer here now and we have actually had a few days where I’ve just left our son in a diaper and let him go…when he first came home from the hospital (except for at night with him sleeping) I would always just let him stay in a onesie…at night I would put him in a sleep and play…

if it gets hot where you are then probably just pants will do, unless your inside alot with AC then you may find yourself always putting a top on over, good luck

Most of the time you will probably have a blanket with her too… in May and thereafter, it will probably be warm enough to wear just a onesie (depending on where you live), but if not, just wrap her bottom half in a blanket if you don’t have enough pants–diaper changing will be easier that way anyways! That being said, you might want a few pairs of pants for when you are taking her out :)

You could get a few pairs of pants/shorts, you don’t have to get bottoms for each onesie. That would be a little excessive. I would say like 5-6 pairs of bottoms.

My son was born in June, and I very rarely put pants on him. He was always in a onesie.

well onesies aren’t all that bad as the weather warms more just a onesie is enough or i always had a onesie on under my daughters clothes

When she goes out or if it’s cold in the house she needs pants but otherwise she can just be in onesie’s. It’s good you have a lot you’ll need them!

to me any season that is cold (ie winter) i would say other clothes on top of the onsies, for the first little bit of spring i would suggest wearing pants and even a shirt over top of the onsies. however once it’s hot out just the onsie is just fine.

depending on where you live and your climate i would buy a a few pairs if you usually still have a few cool days at that time of the year. i live in new york and i know it can still be a little chilly sometimes in may.

My kids were always just in a onsie or t-shirt the majority of the time. Both are hot-blooded kids and couldn’t stand to be covered anymore than necessary. It was a blessing when they came out with onsies - babies can’t pull those off as easy!
I did dress up my little girl a lot, but for floor/tummy time, a onsie was much more comfy and easier to scoot around in.

I’m having a boy in July and not buying much pants on purpose, just a couple soft pair and maybe one pair of jeans for going out. Otherwise it will be onsies and one-pc jumpers all the way ’till it gets cold. I expect this one will by like my other 2 and not like being covered much also.

My daughter is 5 months old and i to received tons of onesies i love it because if your baby is like mine she doesn’t like anything on her legs when she sleeps plus when its cold they are good good layering.

Most places are really good about returning baby items with out gift receipts. If its unopened (sometimes they will even returned opened ones depending on the store) take it in and tell them you received it as a gift and you would like to return or exchange it. Usually they will give you store credit so you can get something else you want or need. Good luck!

Your baby will be wrapped in a blanket most of the first few weeks. My baby was born in Jan and I used onesies and footed sleepers. She would actually get real warm in the sleepers and I would have to put her in the onesies to cool her down. I tried pants but found it such a pain. they slide off and take the diaper with them, making a big mess! You can control there temperature better with a blanket anyway - easier to take off and on.

If she’s inside and the temp is ok , you wont need the put pants on her, especially if shes swaddled in the beginning.
But when you go outside its best to have the pants and you can always take them off if shes too hot.
I had the same problem, 2 days after we got home from the hospital i had to go out and buy a couple pairs of pants for him b/c i had loads of onsies and no bottoms lol
    good luck!
