I was thinking because it’s gonna be a small shower that we paint/design onesies. But I don’t know what type of paint or dye or w/e to use, has anyone else done this and. What did they do??

Fabric paint should be allright. If you have a craft shop near you then go and ask them, they will know if it is.
Or maybe you could do onesie tie-dying if that is safer.

anything lead-based that was made in China would be highly recommended……to not be used.

We used fabric markers at my son’s shower and it was great– what funny keepsakes! You can go to Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and they should have a good selection of fabric paints and markers.
