at what age did you start taking your infant out of the car seat and putting him/her in the seat of the shopping cart?
As soon as he could sit unsupported. My advice is to buy a shopping cart/highchair cover they sell them at Wal-mart. They are great because as soon as baby’s start teething they want anything & everything in their mouth & there are TONS of germs on buggies!!!

As soon as my son was able to sit up and support his weight I would just put him right in the shopping cart. It is so much easier once your able to do that.

I used that stupid car seat carrier twice. What a bother. Like an infant wants to be sitting in that seat instead of being held. I got a sling and used it instead. So much easier.
Once in a while I’d put my son in the cart seat after 4 months, when he was sitting well unaided. I’d use a jacket or a seat cover to keep him tightly wedged so he didnt accidentally topple over and hit himself on the cart.

I did around 6 months. You need to wait until the baby can sit unsupported because I found the seat belts on some shopping carts aren’t all that great,so you want to make sure your baby wont topple sideways.

I put one of my sons in the shopping cart at Dollar General the other day. I put my jacket behind him, though, because he still falls occasionally. He did pretty well, though.

Around 10 months… before 10 months I used the carrier. If my son was awake he didn’t like being in his car seat.

Well… I was stupid and used the car seat for a few months. Since putting car seats on shopping carts is so dangerous (they can topple, as well as keeping the baby in a bad position for breathing) I don’t plan on using them at all with this next baby. I’ll use a chest carrier or sling with the next baby.
I started putting my daughter in the shopping cart at about 4 months though. She was sitting at home, and I just kept my hands on her while pushing the cart, and hubby put things in the cart. Then I got a shopping cart cover with an "H" harness that held her better so she could sit better. She wanted to see things, and sitting in the car seat just annoyed her and she’d cry. So it was either let her sit in the cart, carry her, or use the front carrier for her, any of which she was fine with.
