is it true if you go baby shopping before ur 3 months you can jinx yourself about losing the baby?

everyone tells me if you go baby shopping before ur 3 months you can jinx yourself and ur baby. is that true?

That is not true, and if you did loose your baby and you went shopping before 12 weeks it would be a pure coincidence.

Why are you talking to jerks? And no that’s not true. If it’s gonna happen it’s gonna happen! No matter if you pick out a cute onesie or not!

About 10-15% of women have an early miscarriage during the first 3 months — so it’s not that going shopping woud "jinx" it, it’s just that you’re going to be really sad and disappointed if you start counting on it for sure already and have done a lot of shopping and planning and then have a miscarriage. (Now, you’re going to be devistated if you have a m/c pretty much no matter what, but still.)

It’s up to you, and almost 90% are fine! Focus on the positive!

(This is why some people only tell very close family and friends until they’re 12-14 weeks along).

Hardly unless u are likely to be very superstitious then yes. What i mean is in fact it may seem like going to get all the stuff is tempting fate and your worried, well i understand an my baby is on daily monitoring and its got all the stuff and we lost two before one after only a few weeks an one at three months pregnant nevertheless to imagine its jinxing you is pointless. so much strain and stress is not good. If you are a superstitious type you may cause some anxiety related illnesses but really the chance of causing real harm is very slim go shop enjoy and relax, things could go wrong but the best way is day by day and before you know it it will be a happy healthy baby waiting to be put in its 1st grow or pram. Good luck :)

Just because someone has different cultural beliefs than the those you were raised with doesn’t make them a "jerk" as your first answer said. Lots of people have different traditions and customs regarding pregnancy.

I guess it would depend on your beliefs. In my culture, it is believed to be bad luck to for a baby to buy anything for him before he is born. So, my hubby goes shopping the day after the baby is born to get the necessities, and we go together when I get out and feel up to it. With us, there’s a few things that you are not supposed to do when pregnant because they may possibly have bad results for your baby- like watching scary movies or finding out the sex. We have found out the sex for our kids because it was pretty obvious when we had the routine ultrasounds, but we vere clear of the other things we have been told not to do. Do I totally believe these things? Maybe not, but why risk it?

If the "everybody" you are referring to is family, and you do decide to go shopping before your three months is up, I would suggest not telling them when you made your purchases. No need to upset your grandma or mother-in-law! :)

    Good luck with your pregnancy!
