My co-worker is having a baby. She is having one shower at her house this weekend. Which I already got the gift for. However, my other co worker as just informed that we are also having an office baby shower for her and that I need to pay for my share of the office gift. um? I dont think I should have to buy her two gifts, any comments?
No, you absolutely do not… Just explain that you have been invited tot he shower at her house and you will be buying your own personal gift for that… If the wanted a really small donation, then I would probably put it in anyway, but if they want a substantial amount say no way…
Am I obligated to buy a person two gifts if they are having 2 seperate baby showers?

I agree, you do not need to give 2 separate shower gifts in this situation. Tell the co-worker who is collecting money that you’ve already gotten a gift for the other shower and don’t feel it’s necessary to contribute to another one.

No… that is seriously the dumbest and most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
If she wants to invite people from the office to her shower then fine, but it’s rude to have 2 showers anyways. Super greedy and extra tacky. I would not pay for any ’share’ of the office gift… you don’t have to do that.. you already bought her a gift! Tell them no, you’re not paying anything for it and that you already got her a gift for her baby shower so if they want to leave your name off the card or whatever then fine.

no, your not obligated, and i feel that it is rude for her to invite the same people to both showers (i understand one is an office shower, but still). usually when a person has more than 1 shower its different groups of people. you dont have to pitch in for another gift, your one is enough.

Just tell the person asking for the money that you have already purchased a gift for her. Or you could return the gift you have already gotten and just give the money for the joint gift. There is no need for you to give two gifts unless you just feel very generous.
