What do you get at Baby-Showers if no one knows the sex?

My husband and I are going to find out the sex, Just not tell.
For one reason, We don’t want a million 0-3 month old Girly or boyish clothes that the baby will never fit into.
Also when we have a second, If we have one of each, I don’t want my Son using my Daughters pink stroller or vise versa.

With that said, What do people usually give at baby showers if the sex is unknown.

I don’t know that not telling the sex will really deter people from buying clothes…people LOVE buying baby clothes. They will probably just end up getting you mostly gender neutral clothes, which, if you decide to have another is better than having gender-specific stuff, but still annoying.

And honestly, even if you register most people aren’t even going to look at what you registered for. They will get you what they think you need (my mom bought me a bassinett even though I asked her a million times not to because we wouldn’t use it).

At my baby shower we got a lot of stuff, but mostly clothes. I had told all my family that we didn’t need clothes (we got SO many hand me downs already) but people just can’t help themselves.

Baby showers are great, don’t get me wrong, and I appreciate that everyone cared enough to come and bring stuff for the baby, but it is overwhelming to have so many clothes. And sad because most of it will likely go to waste because big babies run in my family. Oh well.

I do strongly suggest keeping the babies name a secret though. Its so annoying to hear everyones thoughts and opinions on the name you choose.

Well, if you set up a registry, hopefully they will buy you things off of that registry.
I had a friend last year who chose not to find out. For her baby shower, I got her a baby brush/comb (because boy or girl, you need one), a cute white bathrobe with green frogs on it (pretty gender neutral I thought), white baby socks, and teething rings.
I had a boy last year, but when I set up my registry with the swing, stroller, car seat, etc (big ticket items) I selected beige and white colors because if I do get a girl in the future, I don’t want to have to get all new stuff for her. So you could still ask for all that just in gender neutral tones!

For instance, this is the bouncy/vibrating chair I got:

    The stroller/car seat I got:

    You get the idea…

Just stuff that is neutrel colored. Mostly all big baby items such as the swing, travel system, bouncy seat, pack n play etc are colored for a boy or girl anyways. People get diapers, wipes, baby bath products, blankets, bibs, socks…things like that. =)

You will still get tons of clothes the baby wont get to wear more than once or twice only they will be gender neut. (yellow, green, cream) I would make a registry of diapers, wipes, lotions, or tell people you just want giftcards so when you find out the sex you can get the things you need.

If you don’t know the sex people just get you useful, gender nutraul baby gear. I knew with my 1st and all I got was clothes and with my 2nd people bought diapers, wipes, stroller, car seats- it was fabulous!! Just register at Target or Babies r us so you get the patterns you really want. Good Luck!

Well, yellows are always safe, and some light greens. you also might get lots of bath products and lotions for baby. there are lots of unisex things out there that people will go for. maybe some bedding for the crib in a nice neutral color, etc.

some people will just assume its going to be a girl or a boy and give you pink or blue stuff. If you dont want that mention in the invites or your baby registry that u want gender neutral stuff like green or yellow clothes/other things.

If I were invited to a baby shower and didn’t know the gender of the child I would probably bring either a gift certificate for Toy’R'Us or Babies’R'Us or similar or a gift basket with baby care items like wipes, baby wash, washclothes, hoodie towel, etc or something gender neutral like white/green/yellow onesies/sleepers/etc.

I didnt want any clothes or big items either at my baby shower in fear of not getting the nessecities!!!. My reason was i learned from the first that peole love to buy the ‘cute’ things rather than the things you really need!
So this time around i put a note in the invite and a note on the actual registry that i was kindly asking for no clothes as i had plenty and was hoping to recieve the NECESSITIES!
When i registered i made sure to ONLY register for things i would NEED! Diapers, wipes, bottle system, breast pump, bath wash/lotion , diaper cream, dishwasher bottle holder, wipe warmer, car window shades, car seat mat thing, diaper bag in black, burp cloths, pacifier, bibs and baby sling, and so on. I even went home and revised my registry on line and made sure i was only asking for things i need, which doesnt matter what sex baby is! Usually registries also have option of asking for Gift cards!!
When you go to register thay always have a check list of the baby essentials. That will guide you and get you what you need.
I think it would be Awesome of you to suprise everyone at the Shower with the sex of baby after you open presents! That would be so fun with all the people you love around!!

You can register for unisex items for the stoller, pack ‘n play, bouncer, etc. Some people like to put bath baskets together with lotions, soaps, rubber ducks, etc. They can always buy diapers, bottles, unisex clothes. You can get a lot of great things from your guests without having to tell them the sex of the baby. Like I said, just register for items that could be for a boy or a girl.
