My friend started having contractions today and she thinks she’ll be having her first son soon. I’m not experienced with babies. What would be some good gifts to get her and him?

How lovely of you to want to give them a gift and how rude of the person who said you shouldn’t buy anything, just ignore jerks like that!

At 12 months, my son got a Leap Frog "Scout" puppy dog. You can upload music and personalize it so it says their names and sings about things they like. My son loves it! We keep it in his crib and he’ll push the foot to start the bedtime music, to go back to bed.

Another thing that no kid can have too many of is books (board books for one year olds). My son goes into his room and pulls books off his shelves and sits down and ‘reads’ them or brings them out to me to read to him. They’re pretty cheap too so you can get a number of them. If the boy’s parents read to him often they’ll be able to tell you what he likes to read about or can suggest some books for you. My brother asked what he should get our son. I told him Caillou books because he LOVES them (as well as books about dinosaurs, trucks/tractors/trains and baby animals).

My best friend and wife are due to have a baby boy in December . What should I get for the new mum and baby boy? Can I even open a savings account for little one? They are my best friends ever and don’t know what to do. They live in Dubai and I m in Uk that’s why I need to send something early. That’s not bad luck or something is it? I know is going to be a baby boy. Tx for advice

If your not sure of what to buy there are always things new parents will need. -diapers,baby towels,burp cloths,baby wipes,blankets,baby wash/shampoo,baby swing,bottles (if not breast feeding) car seat, crib, stroller,changing pad,diaper genie,socks,crib padding,baby monitor,diaper bag,diaper rash cream,bottle warmer,pacifiers, there are many thing you could get for your friends I recommend going to the baby section in stores you go to and look around at what they have im sure anything you get them will be appreciated.

My manager is having a baby boy around Christmas, and is going on maternity leave next month. I want to start brainstorming of ideas of what to get her. I know I want to get her a hat and baby cardigan from American Apparel, since the baby will be born in winter. I know you’re not supposed to give clothes so I want to get something extra (useful). Help! Her’s is the first baby shower I’ve had to attend!

If you get diapers, get size newborn or 1. I usually get some lansinoh or medela cream (lanolin) and breast pads. The breast pads are good, even if mom does not breast feed–because the engorgements can cause drippiness. If you know the mom is planning to bottle feed, maybe a can of the formula she plans to use. Another gift I like is a gift certificate to the nearest food delivery place–great for the day she can’t think to prepare dinner. Then I get a little something for the baby, such as jammies. If she has a registry, find an item in your price range and get that.

I wanted to get something a bit different for my first nephew’s baptism next week (Yes, I have left it till the last minute). I wanted to put some money in a bank account for him, but it seems that I need his birth cert etc and that takes away from the surprise.. Then I was thinking premium/prize bonds but again they are geared towards parents and need his birth cert..

So any idea’s?? I want something a bit different and not the usual silver gifts that are put away and never used. Ideally I would love to put some money away for him somehow but as I have left it till the last min and don’t have any of his documents that is seeming a bit impossible.. Any ideas?

My husbands uncle has done premium bonds as christening gifts for all three of my children and hes never had to use their birth certificates. You could get one of those terriaki (cant spell it sorry) money pots as you have to smash them to open them

One of my good friends is pregnant and lives in a different state. I want to send her something really heartfelt and unique, but I am also on a budget. In my experience, the best gift would be a baby gift basket. You can do a themed one like bath time, bed time, play time. They are always filled with such useful things and then the basket itself can also be used for a very long time afterward. Great for storing things.

As his mom you have already given him the best gifts of all - his life, your love and care. But if you want to get him something special, get a special photograph taken for his first birthday, make sure all his grandparents can be there for his birthday - if you can, help them financially to get there if they have to travel a long way and if that would be a burden for them, and lastly, get him one of the Baby Einstein toys.

I’m trying to figure out what will be the best gifts for my son. So far we got the lol zoomers speedway, laugh and learn move station, and baby laptop. Any other ideas on some good toys he will use for awhile? He likes buttons and cracks up at silly noises (like most babies his age lol) we have clothes and books picked out already so just some fun educational toys for the upcoming months. Thanks!

When our oldest son was that age he loved his Stride to Ride Lion. They can push it like a walker and later ride on it. He loved it until he was around 2 and now our youngest son loves it just as much.

So, my friend whom ive known since junior high - 9 years - is going to have a baby boy. I dont know what to get him and his wife. . .I dont want to get them clothes cause ive heard newborns grow out of them fast, and I dont want to get a diaper cake.
