when my cousin had her baby, I gave her a gift voucher for $ 150/-, and wrote the names of our family of 5 in the card. Now the christening is next week. Do I have to give another gift? I must add, her parents have a habit of judging people by their gifts.
Thanks in advance.

Normally it’s customary to give a gift but since you gave them a $150 voucher I would think that would be enough.

Hi, Im going to be a Godmother next month and Im wanting to get a gift for my godson.
I dont want to buy the usual silver spoon, or money box…etc….I was wanting to get something unusual or something that will mean something to him in the future….any ideas?

A bottle of champagne made this year to put away and keep. A newspaper from the day he is christened, make up a little time capsule for him to open with things that are relevant for the year he was born.

Its a friends son’s christening.
I normally would always buy a gift & will feel disgusting turning up without but I have no money until payday. I can only afford to go to the christening afterparty if I don’t drink alcohol & have maybe two drinks and tapwater!
Is it that awful to turn up with just a card?
:( I can’t NOT go. She’d actually kill me if i didnt turn up!

?e… No!. ???

Its my goddaughters christening next month and I would like to get her something a little extra special and meaningful rather than the usual cliche gifts, does anyone have any ideas on unique gifts?

This tends to go over well with some people depending on how free-thinking they feel they are.
Or want the child to be.

Anyone got any ideas?

my son was christened last year and the best presents he got was a toddler bible and a soft baby photo album. the bible is so cute and has lots of pictures.he absolutely loves the soft baby photo album. i’ve put pictures in it myself but to make it personal you could put the pictures in it. i put pictures of grandparents, us and a my son with his teddy. all of the picures have my son in them and he loves looking at all these familiar faces. here’s a similar album.

For a christening gift should I buy the same gift for each twin or should I just buy the twin that is my godchild or should I buy two gifts but spend more on my godchild?

No it isn’t ok. You should spend equally on each child. Assuming they are still babies, they won’t know the difference. You are in a position that you should treat each child equally forever. It would be cruel to make differences with a set of twins. Don’t you care for them equally? Think about this and if you feel in the long run it will be too much, you should discuss it with the parents now. Maybe you’ll have to step down as godmother.

My granddaughter has a christenting coming up in October. I’d like some suggestions for appropriate/cool/different gifts that I might give her. Due to health issues, I will not be able to attend this out of state affair. Also, money (within reason) is not an object.

Anyone out there that can help me with ideas? :) :)
the best way to get the idea of gift is snappycanvas.com they always give the best idea of all my problems i hope youcan also get some idea from them.

I’m not religious and Ive been invited to a baptism and need to buy a present and i don’t want to offend by getting a gift that you would traditionally give at a christening. I want to get something nice, so if anyone else knows of a tradition polish baptism gift that would be of great help also. Thanks

If it is an infant baptism it is just the same.
For an adult baptism, think adult.

I know its not something super adorable like a cute outfit or a stuffed animal, but would this be a nice gift for a christening? I feel like its something that would be more helpful for the mother. Its a very nice cookbook with great ideas for healthy baby food. Thanks.

I think its a great idea, but would the mom actually use it? That would be my only concern. If you know that she would take the time to make and store the baby food, then yes, if not, I would be iffy. Some moms don’t care and are fine using the gerbers, and others just simply don’t have the time.
If I was given it for my sons, I would definitely use it though!

I was wondering if anybody knows of a good antique shop in London where I could find a Christening gift. I am looking in particular into Victorian silverware.
Thank You

Have a look at the Alfie’s Antiques market website - you can see some things before deciding whether it is worth a trip - they have a search facility. Alfie’s is in Marylebone. Another alternative is Camden Passage in Islington.
