I am having a C-Section on Xmas eve due to my baby being breech. So obviously I will be in there through the holidays. Do you think we should get her a little present to bring to the hospital? Something to start her life? Like maybe give her an ornament every year, and I can start it out with this one. Or a special Xmas stocking? Do you guys have cute ideas?

I would get a Baby’s 1st Christmas stocking. I have two daughters and two sons. Both of my older children had Baby’s 1st Christmas stockings (pink for my daughter, blue for my son) that their younger siblings used for their first Christmases as well (this year IS my younger son’s first Christmas). I plan to put them away for future children/grandchildren.

We get new ornaments each year. You can purchase one for her now that says Baby’s 1st Christmas (Hallmark has a good seletion, or their are kiosks in the mall right now that will customize them for you and they do have Baby’s 1st Christmas styles). You can also get a silver sharpie marker and an ornament of your choice, and you could customize it with her name and add her birth stats as well, if you like. Then, you might do that each year- a "growth chart" of sorts.

I think I answered another question you asked earlier, and mentioned putting her in the stocking for a picture. I still recommend that! You might take a bow (the kind you would put on top of a present) and get a nude shot with that covering her genitals, or one with her laying on her tummy and the bow on her back.

I would fill the stocking with a lullaby/nursery rhyme CD, some cute infant hair bows (I liked the nylon headbands with the loop for attaching barrettes to), bonnets and booties, perhaps a small stuffed animal, other little trinkets. maybe some small board books for you to read to her.

Congratulations!

should i get my b/f’s family gifts for christmas and if so what should i make them? i dont have a job right now and i have a newborn and only 16 what should i do ? i have no idea what they like.

You could always get a family giftcard to eat dinner somewhere cheap like maybe applebees or something.
Or a family fruit basket or family cookie basket.
You don’t have to buy them seperate stuff. Just buy a group item.
Hope i helped! Happy Holidays =)

My mother received some small baby gifts for my newborn from coworkers of hers that I have never heard of or met. Does proper etiquette dictate that they should receive handwritten thank yous from me?

Yes, etiquette is that you should respond to all gifts that you are given.
The note should be personal to the situation but length of the note is not required.
Since the gifts were passed to you through your mother, it may help to mention her in the note and also have your mom deliver the notes to her coworkers.

I’m looking for something that I can do from home for a little extra pocket money. My idea is to create rag doll type baby dolls. with soft cloth bodies that can fit into real newborn or preemie sized baby clothes. If nothing else, just because I enjoy these type pf projects, I want to at least try making them as gifts. If I found a way to sell them that would be a bonus. Do you think there’s a chance it could make any money?

There is always that chance that you will do well with this idea of yours. Don’t expect much in the beginning. Do like you said and make them for gifts, etc. If you want to launch out and try some on ebay….that might be a good way to get your feet wet…so to speak.

What gift should be given to her for being new mom???

How about a gift certicate to a spa? The first few weeks with a new baby is tough and I’m sure the mom would appreciate some pampering for herself.

Surely there are more appropriate gifts for a newborn child.

Pampers would have been a better gift.

I’d like to buy 1 share of Disney stock as a gift for a newborn. I do not want to spend more than the stock value itself on the certificate and it does not need framing, etc. What is the best way to do this?

Not to sound obnoxious, but if your buying stock, I would recommend buying 20-50 shares, as the fees will cost more than the 1 share. As for a stock certificate, I don’t believe they still issue those.

If you feel so inclined to buy 1 share, you might want to check http://www.shareinaframe.com/

I am not expecting any gifts, my husband and I are on our own. I know babies grow fast. I don’t want to buy to many but I also know that they’ll wear more than one onsie in a day. How many do you suggest? I was thinking about getting ten onsies, one cute outfit and three sleepwear per size for the first year. Too much, not enough? Thank you! :)
I really didn’t end up using all the onsies I got. They will want their feet covered, so I recommend footed sleepers. 2 a day, as much as you need to get the laundry done.

You may need a onsie for going out in hot weather, but our twins were almost always in footed sleepers, despite all the other clothes we had. A onsie doesn’t keep them warm enough, and their feet get cold.

I really think for newborn and even for 0-3 you can get by just with footed sleepers. Really as few as 6 of each size. Just do laundry every couple days or so.

I bought for the whole year and don’t regret it. I bought very cheap though at a local thrift store. I would recommend buying for the first 6 months, you may not have time later. But I really find sleepwear makes the most sense. A newborn sleeps about 20 hours a day, a 6 month old 15 hours a day. They sleep every couple of hours. Sleep is what they do. After 3 months they can regulate their temperature enough to use more onsies etc. but I really can’t see putting a newborn down without a sleeper on. And for skin to skin contact, just have them wear a diaper only. Then put on the sleeper to lay them down for nap.

besides them young shepherds in the field, but the foreigners, three gifts means three men’s or there were many of them that came but three have the heart and/or money to buy the gifts for the newborn King…?

The bible never says that there were 3 wise men. It only mentions the 3 gifts.
