When do babies usually develop problem solving skills? When do they usually recognize patterns? Is doing these things early a sign of autism or is it possible to tell early on that a baby is intellectually gifted?
*crickets*
I agree, I think parents are over paranoid about autism and the "signs" are so sketchy.

Ok, I will give it a shot.. Lol

I would think… that someone might be abe to tell around 10 months or so. If they are able to start figuring out shape sorters and how some toys for lets say a 12 month old might work.

I would NOT think it was a sign of autism at all though. I feel that is a medical term that is thrown around this website way too much.

I own a daycare center and I am trying to think up ideas for Father’s Day….we have already done things with their foot prints for Mother’s Day and Christmas. Any ideas?

anything involving finger painting. Or take pics of them in animal costumes. :)

A friend came over with high-end expensive honey from a fine food store as a gift. The honey is from some fancy manufacturer with high standards of quality assurance. My husband put a drop of the honey on my one month old son’s pacifiers when I wasn’t there. He didn’t know about infant botulism from honey

I am devastated!

I called the doctor, she said that infant botulism from honey is rare, and there is nothing I could do except watch for symptoms.

How long do symptoms take to appear? I am so worried :(
Symptoms appear VERY quickly, generally they are apparent within an hour of consuming the honey.
I’m going to assume the doctor told you what to watch for so I won’t go into it but if your son isn’t showing symptoms already then you are pretty safe from it.

Botulinum toxin is really only present in homey produced from Argentinian honey bees or bees that have been cross bred with them. They put a blanket warning on it because European honey bees can mate with the Argentinian ones and produce viable offspring.
Most of the honey in the world comes from bees descended from the European bees so they put the warning out just to cover their backsides!

My cousin and my best friend have had a new addition to their family. One of them is in the east coast and the other is in the west coast. I want to send a gift for both of them maybe online but dont want to go over the board or spend too much. What is the cheapest best way to send a gift for an infant.. Any ideas will be great.

I would look for a website that is secure and has free shipping. Decide what you want to spend, check out sites like BabiesRUs.com, Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com and don’t go over your budget.

Best wishes!

I am going to an all inclusive resort (2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant) only really need money for a couple of day trips and maybe buying some clothes or gifts.

How much should I be looking to take?

Hi there, I dont think you’ll be needing $2000 US dollars! I went with my boyfriend and little girl for 11 nights in 5 Star All Inclusive in Fethiye (Majesty Tuana Hotel) and got back 2 days ago.
We spent £270 while we were there and this included 4 day trips, Turkish bath and duty free gifts :-)
We booked through http://www.caroletayfun.com/ for trips.. id recommend Island Cruise and do a Turkish bath on your 1st day (if you can) for the most fabulous tan! Enjoy x
PS Big tip..dont change lots of Lira before you go, if you go to markets you get a better exchange using Sterling. Dont forget to haggle too!

my daughter will be 7 months old when christmas comes and im not working because i have noone to watch her and im currently pregnant. Do you know of anywhere that would hlp me out?

7 month olds don’t even know what Christmas is. This is something that can wait another year. Worry about her current needs for now and those of your soon-to-be newborn.

i dont get baby shoes (for babys not walking). i lived with my cousin she would put the shoes on her baby and 10 min later they were off. and they were so annoying/frustrating/hard to put on to begin with. and every time we changed her it was a 10 min process between getting them on and off. she even kicked one off at the mall and it is gone forever. there goes 10 bucks.

i got about 6 pairs of infant shoes as gifts when i had my son. where is he going that he needs the shoes for? i guess for a formal picture you cant just wear socks b ut do you know how long it took me to find a formal shoe and how much it cost when i did? are they hoping that sometime soon a newborn is going to walk?? i started walking at 8 months so i see why they make shoes for babys 6 months + but why newborns?

I agree with you. for a formal time then its okay. My MIL is always asking me " where’s her shoes?" … its like okay she’s a baby she doesn’t walk why would she want shoes. They just bother her. When i have put them on her she just kicks and kicks until they are off. My fam has bought her a few pair of shoes and i will put them one once when they are around just so they see she wore them at least once. My sis gave her new born shoes and i put them on her so my sis can see and she only wore them that one time and now they don’t fit. lol.. I will put some one when she walks obviously but she don’t need them now. They want to be comfortable. Like you say they are hard to get on too. lol

Is it tacky to give both the wedding gift AND the shower gift at the shower?

My husband and I got the couple the bedding set that they registered for. The comforter set is quite large, and we’d rather not have to deal with it at the wedding reception. For the shower gift, we got them a holiday dish set. Much smaller than a comforter set, but also much heavier. We have an infant, and she does not travel lightly!

Would it been seen as tacky if I just showed up with both at the bridal shower tomorrow?

Not tacky, just explain yourself. No big deal!

If anyone else has a similar problem in the future and the gift can be mailed to the couple’s house, do that. (But I’m guessing the questioner already has both items.)

I am looking to make gift baskets for children ages infant and up to 10 years old. Some will be grad toward children with special needs. Their will be a few things for baby needs, holiday, Special needs children. Non food items.

I live in the usa. I will be putting up a web site for people out side of my area.

I do not know what to charge for these gifts.

The best way is to look at other online stores and see what prices they charge. That will give you an idea of what people will pay. You may sell a bit cheaper or offer more for the same price.
Later as you start to earn money you can adjust your prices. You need to work out what your items cost, and then you can go from there. Gift baskets take time to make look pretty so there is a big labour cost.
Remember that the other companies out there are paying wages and materials costs and also make a profit.
Just dont price yourself too high.

By Christmas, my infant son will only have been in daycare for 3 months and he only goes 3 days each week. I already know that our daycare provider throws a big Christmas party w/ Santa for the kids, I know she buys them each a gift, and I’ve already been given the name of another child for their gift exchange. Our provider is a husband & wife who have a daycare in their home. I already pay a full-time rate for only 3 days of daycare. I know I need to buy them something but am not sure what exactly. It is definitely more difficult because there is a male in the picture. I can’t do baked goods because she bakes & sells Christmas cookies every year on the side. Plus, I’m definitely on a budget. My son is only 4 months old right now, so something hand-made is also out! I don’t want to come across as a tight-wad, so I need something thoughtful yet inexpensive.

Starbucks gift card (if she’s a coffee drinker)

A favorite, cherished baked good and recipe included in the card (baked goods aren’t out of the question, I’m sure she enjoys new recipes)

A personalized Christmas card with your son’s picture on it would be a nice gesture

You could personalized an ornament for her that has a picture of her whole daycare class on it

Buy a large, tall mug with some cute sayings on it. Fill it with goodies such as hot cocoas, marshmallows, chocolates or caramels.

I’m sure what ever you decide she will be touched by the thought and gesture :)
