I am due on May 30 and I thought it would be sweet to give my husband a gift from our little girl. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!

You can have a plaster cast made of you belly and after the baby is born you can do foot prints and paint them.

I’m going to be meeting my friend’s newborn baby tomorrow for the first time, and I planned on bringing a gift over for the baby, but my friend said that a few of our other friends are all coming over at the same time as we are, so now I’m not sure if I should still bring a gift? I don’t want to make the other friends feel bad if they didn’t buy the baby anything.

I would bring the gift, just be discreet.

Give her the gift quietly and just let her know, "its a little something for your new baby, you can open it later . . . " so that she does not feel obligated to open it right in front of you and the other guests.

You don’t know that the other people will not bring gifts or may have given her a gift earlier. I would not worry about how it "looks" to them. Just don’t intentionally make a big deal out of it.

get a clay foot/handprint kit at a craft store. use a heart shape cookie cutter and string ribbon in it so he can hang it. when he gets back he can measure how much larger his sons foot or hand got!

Just something I can make cheaply and fairly easily (no knitting though), and is original?

I’m making a custom teddy bear for a friend’s grand baby, his nursery is yellow and brown, and his theme is the alphabet. so, his bear is yellow and brown, and will have embroidered letters on it. I used a Simplicity pattern for the bear, and went to the fabric store for the material.

His grandmother is making a t-shirt, identifying him as the G-baby, which is what she calls him. She has bought iron on letters for the shirt.

a custom blanket would be fairly easy to make if you sew, you can turn any stuffed animal pattern into a custom one using special fabric, or dressing the animal special.

a sock monkey would be cute, see the patterns for the instructions for the monkey and the clothes.

there are lots of appliques you can purchase, Walmart has them, so do the fabric stores. Pick one, and sew it onto clothes you purchase. If the parents are rockers or bikers, purchase rhinestones and the machine to apply them, or do iron on. Again, Walmart, some fabric stores, and craft stores carry them.

do you do hand work? Most craft stores have already made bibs, all you do is embroider them, usually cross stitch. Choose custom colors.

Make a acrylic tie blanket, they have lots of designs and colors to choose from. Some to suit the season, the baby, or the parents tastes.

check the sewing pattern book for ideas, I’ve seen little baby bonnets that look like monkeys or have bear ears that are just too cute, and easy to sew.

give them a scrapbook kit. go to the store and buy the scrap book, and special baby design printed paper, and some baby glue in designs. Michael’s has a good selection.

e-how, Martha Stewart, and these people are good idea resources for you:www.handmade-adelaide-baby.com

If you are not very crafty, a gift basket might be a good idea. Buy a cute basket, line it with a pretty baby blanket, and fill it with stuff that will definetly get used. Baby washcloths, baby shampoo, a gift certificate to a local store, just go to a store and look and see what is useful and cute to you. go to Michael’s for the shrink wrap or cellophane for the outside, and attach a big bow.
The above website has the cute basket that you twist towels into bottle and animal shapes. Too cute!

I’m at a loss as to what baby products to buy, almost everybody says something different.

I’m planning on breastfeeding, but I think it’s a good idea to have *something* just in case. Is this a good investment? I know you can’t know beforehand if your baby is going to like something.
And what is the difference between the set, and the package with the 3 bottles, and what is the difference between buying the 3oz bottles vs. 6 or 8oz? (obviously there’s a size difference–but is it economically effective to buy the smaller bottles if you’ll have to buy bigger ones later on?)

Buy the playtex drop in nursers. They are the best because the liner is disposable and will save u a lot of time washing bottles! I would only ask for the 8 or 10oz bottles because babys actually start drinking a lot pretty quick. The small bottles get used for such a short period they are as waste of money in my opinion. If you plan to breastfeed though make sure you have all the necessities like a GOOD pump like medela. Lanolin, boppy pillow, milk storage bags all that stuff. Congrats and good job breastfeeding. It really really is the best thing for you baby!

I’m due on 9th December but will, almost definitely, go over by a week or two.

I feel bad because I really can’t afford to buy her much this year. I know she won’t understand what’s going on but I would feel better, being a first time mum, getting her a couple of things. So I went out to buy her two small toys and have wrapped them up. She has almost everything there is to get but I still feel bad about only getting her two small presents?

Do you think this is enough? What did you get your newborn if he/she was born close to Christmas?

Thank you!

I didnt have money with my first either. She was 8 months old on her first xmas. I got a card and wrote in it how special she was to me and how much I loved her and how blessed I am to have her in my life and that my gift that Christmas was her. I sealed and and im saving it for her when she has her first baby someday.
I did get her a dolly to, but thats it lol

My now second baby girl will only be 6 weeks so shell get a card and maybe a nice xmas dress thats it.

My Indian neighbor is going to have newborn baby girl in the next few days. I do not know about their culture. However, they are my best friends, so I want to buy something for their newborn baby. Like when they are coming back from the hospital, when they celebrate 1st month and later celebrate 1st birthday. Please give me advices what should I buy. My budget for each occasion from min 100USD to max 500USD. Many thanks

We have a little boy coming at the end of November. He will be our second son, so we already have all of the baby gear that we could possibly need & lots of clothes and toys too. We still have to have something under the tree for him, but I can’t come up with any decent ideas. Plus we have relatives and friends asking for ideas, but I really REALLY don’t have any. HELP!!!!!

Not much a baby that age would get anything out of - maybe a special outfit to wear (especially if everything else he has is handmedowns).

I would tell friends and relatives that you have stacks of ’stuff’ and say if they’d like to give something, you have a savings account for him.

Or did/does big brother have anything which could be added to so its both of theirs? A wooden trainset? Baby Lego?
