We have a Christening to go to tomorrow afternoon and we have no idea what to give as a gift. It is my husband’s cousin’s baby, we only see this cousin at weddings and other family rare occasions. We have been told money is a good gift but we are newlyweds and don’t have all that much to spare. Is $25 alright to give or should we try to give more? any suggestions??
I think $25 is enough. If they have asked for money then I’d give them money. Theres only so many piggy banks and silver spoons a baby can have.
what do you give as a christening gift?

I think people are thankful for any gift at a Christening. I think $25 in a nice card is a nice gift to give a baby at a Christening as it can be put in savings for them - and it all adds up!
Silver things also make ideal Christening gifts. Giving a gift of silver is more traditional as a Christening gift. Silver ‘Piggy Banks’, silver comb and brush set, silver boxes ideal for storing the first tooth, etc.
I became a Godmother last year at my friends son’s Christening and I got him an engraved silver yo-yo as I figured it would be more unique and eventually practical if he wanted to play with it. I got it on ebay and in total it was just a tenner! (as we are also low on cash)
