Baby clothes, any cool & affordable?

I am pregnant right now with my first baby boy. Of course we will probably go a little overboard, but as far as clothes maybe its just me, but…. I don’t want all my kid’s clothes to be light blues! I want him to have some jeans and hip shirts, but it seems any cool shirts are affiliated with violent bands or disrespectful sayings. I want my 3 month old boy to have a jacket, jeans, tee, and shoes that don’t have any pastels. The really nice stuff is of course pretty pricey. Even though this is my first I will NEVER pay 30 dollars for a single onesie! Please help!

You are obviously new to this!

It is inconvenient and expensive to put a newborn on elaborate clothing.

Newborns poop a lot and throw up constantly for the first 2-3 months of life, that’s why newborns clothing is somewhat basic and washable as you will be doing a lot of laundry and doing a lot of clothes changing, and you do not need to be inconvenienced with gazzilion buttons, zippers etc.

Second, baby’s skin is very very delicate. I would not put jeans on a newborn; it will scratch and hurt a delicate’s baby skin.

You may have an out fit or two for pictures and special occasions when they are that little, but not for everyday use.

They will grow up so quick and then you will be able to dress them up in whatever you want, while they are babies, let them be babies.

Affordable, cute clothes, you can find in Old Navy, baby Gap and Gymboree have cute stuff too, but is more expensive.

Good luck

I am in the UK but I know Walmart owns the supermarket over here named ASDA.

ASDA have LOADS of very very nice kids and baby clothes from shoes to hats etc.

They all have a 100 day guarantee too.

So do your Walmarts have a clothes section?

Check out the link below for an example…

You’re funny! I never saw violent bands or disrespectful saying on baby clothes.

You can always shop at Old Navy for reasonably priced, non-pastel stuff. Or Baby Gap, which is slightly more expensive… but you can always find a deal.

What you’re looking for is available pretty commonly… so I’m not sure why you can’t find anything.

Old Navy has really cute boy clothes and when you can find a sale- they are a great price. Otherwise, maybe try nice resale shops or post an ad on your local craigslist with what you are wanting. I have found the craigslist extremely helpful with those types of things!

Wal-mart has some really cute clothes that are not through the roof price wise. You can get boy clothes that are not the typical blue. They out grow them so quick, I can’t see spending so much on them myself. Congrats on the new baby!

Well pretty much anywhere!! H&M has some nice stuff,so does Old Navy, Target, Walmart, Sears…Baby Gap, the Children’s place,Carter’s, Osh Kosh

Now some advice-you’re a new mom– and I understand what you mean by the clothes colour but as a rule-a 3 mos old baby might not be wanting to b dressed soo much! Im sure he’ll look really cute as a mini-adult, but babies dont like being changed in general. You’ll see soon enough, and then they are so delicate that placing their arms on a jean jacket might not be very comfy without even talking about sleeping! And the same for the little shoes…
Another poster already said this, but Im supporting that, because I feel like it’s a good piece of advice to give a new mom like you.
It’d be great to dress him like that for a Photo or if you have to take him to some special occasion but not as a rule.

Now that doesnt mean your baby has to be dress in PJ’s all the time!! Go to different kid stores in your area and look around and you’ll find tons of really nice baby clothes!

OK look this is Target : http://www.target.com/Newborn-Boys-Outfits-0-12M/b/49807011/ref=sc_fe_l_4_2242996011_15?node=49807011

No pastels light blue-just nice cheeky outfits!

Look this is Sears : Again no pastels, fun COMFORTABLE clothes for newborns

I felt the same way before my baby boy was born. I didn’t want him to wear blue, so I bought reds, oranges, creams, grays, and greens. The funny thing is, he was born with MY fair skin and blonde hair with a reddish tint. He officially looks awful in reds, oranges, creams, and greens. So guess what my favorite color on him is…….. yep, blue!! Needless to say I have quite a few adorable outfits that I will end up selling because the colors just DIDN’T work for him….

I’m anti- cheesy sayings and the whole violent skulls/death theme too.

My favorite outfits are from Pumpkin Patch, Mini Boden, Gap, DKNY, Gymboree, Janie & Jack, Baby Nay, Rabbit Moon… all a bit spendy unless you search the local kids resale stores, and eBay. Stores like TJMaxx, Marshalls, and Ross will also carry some cute clothes at lower prices.

I also have my own online store: http://www.littlefancypants.ecrater.com with a smaller baby boy selection.

    Good luck & happy shopping!
