i dont get baby shoes (for babys not walking). i lived with my cousin she would put the shoes on her baby and 10 min later they were off. and they were so annoying/frustrating/hard to put on to begin with. and every time we changed her it was a 10 min process between getting them on and off. she even kicked one off at the mall and it is gone forever. there goes 10 bucks.
i got about 6 pairs of infant shoes as gifts when i had my son. where is he going that he needs the shoes for? i guess for a formal picture you cant just wear socks b ut do you know how long it took me to find a formal shoe and how much it cost when i did? are they hoping that sometime soon a newborn is going to walk?? i started walking at 8 months so i see why they make shoes for babys 6 months + but why newborns?
I agree with you. for a formal time then its okay. My MIL is always asking me " where’s her shoes?" … its like okay she’s a baby she doesn’t walk why would she want shoes. They just bother her. When i have put them on her she just kicks and kicks until they are off. My fam has bought her a few pair of shoes and i will put them one once when they are around just so they see she wore them at least once. My sis gave her new born shoes and i put them on her so my sis can see and she only wore them that one time and now they don’t fit. lol.. I will put some one when she walks obviously but she don’t need them now. They want to be comfortable. Like you say they are hard to get on too. lol

I agree with you. My first is due Feb 6th and I have everything for him excluding shoes…I don’t understand the concept either. Where is he gonna be walking to? and are they not uncomfortable for baby? I want my baby to be comfortable without all the non-sense. I kind of feel the same way about name-brand clothes for infants…Spend $30 on a onsie so they can poop all over it and never wear it again?? Lol Idk…to each his own i guess!

My daughter is 10 months and I still don’t put shoes on her even though she is walking already. I figure that she will wear enough shoes in her life when she is older so why bother now. All she does is take them off immediately or one falls off and she walks around with only one shoe on.
I find it quite pointless until they are at least 18 months old.

I agree with you. I made the mistake of buying my son a bunch of shoes when he was born and they were not cheap shoes either and he never wore them. it was such a waste of money i wanted to kick myself for it later

The point of them is to get the child used to wearing shoes from an early date. It’s so that when they are old enough that they need them they DON’T kick then off at the first opportunity! You obviously do not live in an area with ground thorns or you would understand why there is a need to get the wearing of footwear established ASAP.
And the fact that the baby was kicking them off meant that your cousin did NOT know how to choose infant shoes, did she even try them on the baby in the shops? I always do with my son, but maybe that’s because I don’t like the idea of a $30 pair of shoes getting lost in the shopping complex!

Well I’ve been putting shoes on my baby pretty much all of the time since she was born, and she is almost 11 months now and doesn’t even notice them now to kick them off.
