What do we need to do to pre-pair our 2 yr old son for a new baby in 9 wks time?

My partner and i have some planes in place, like we already have the cot set up and we talk about the new baby sister he will be getting to him often. He is toilet training and sleeps in a "big boys bed" he even know to say good night to the baby before Daddy puts him to bed each night. Do you think giving a small gift from the new baby to the older child is a good idea? Any other ideas? And what do you think of the name Olive?

We have been working on the same thing! Our pediatrician said it is really a good idea to give a gift from the baby! So we are also planning on doing that. We are also talking to our daughter about the baby and what things are going to be like. Additionally we have signed our 2 year old up for daddy and me soccer classes that start up here soon so that even after the baby is born she has alone time with us away from the baby and house to feel special. We are trying hard to keep up her routine as we get closer so that she doesn’t feel left out. I know that there will be some jealousy but I also want her to still have one on one time as well.

As yes the name Olive is precious!
