What to give to my Brother’s new baby?

My Brother and his wife just had a new baby. It is their first one. I am new to this as well. I don’t live in the same city as them. What is the best protocol as far as what I should send to them to congratulate them on their new baby? Do people send gifts, and if so, what is a good gift to send?

If they have a baby/gift registry I’d buy something off of there, check Babies R’ Us, Target, Wal-Mart etc. to see if they registered.

Also, depending how close you are to your brother should determine how much you should spend.

If you’re close I’d send something expensive, like an exersaucer, highchair, or playpen, etc.

If you just talk now and then I’d either send a card with cash, giftcard, baby outfit or blanket

If you want to send something funny I’d suggest a "Daddy Toolbelt" it’s to help new dads change diapers.

If your brother is more of a traditional kind of person I’d also suggest: silver spoon/cup/comb/brush with the baby’s initials.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, most people usually just give gifts. You could get them baby clothes for the baby, bathing stuff, diapers, something that will help them out.

If you live far away. Then sending something by mail would be your only option. Maybe a gift card would be a nice idea. So they can get whatever it is they need and don’t already have.

I would say to send them something, even a giftcard if you do not know what they still need. There are always things a long the way that they will need for the child.
