My friend just had a baby last week, to show I care for the baby just like the mother (my friend) what kind of gift should i give her? offering to babysit sometimes?
cloth diapers. She will use them as burp clothes & w/ a newborn you can never have too many. Also something (that at least in my area is) hard to find are night GOWNS. When your baby is getting up every 2 hours, dealing w/ snaps & zippers is horrid. I always get new moms night gowns & they always appreciate it. Usually nobody else thinks to do it too, especially if it’s a first time mom.
What gift should i give the newborn child?

if the gift is for the mom… i’d say a gift certificate to a manicure or a massage while you babysit. that gives mom some relaxation time knowing she has someone she trusts watching the baby.

Make her dinner, help with chores around the house, watch the baby for an hour or two so mom can take a nap. Or you could get mom a gift card for a massage! Offering to babysit is great, but don’t expect her to want a babysitter too soon, it can be hard for moms to leave their baby no matter who it is. She is lucky to have a friend like you.

Ask her the best time for you to come over.. bring her a meal, do a load of laundry and the dishes.. then offer to take the baby while she has a shower or a nap.
That gift is for the mother and the baby.. the mother will be grateful and the baby will have a happier mama.

I’d say she most likely will have lots of gifts for the child like clothes, nappys etc. I got my sister a voucher to have her first photo of the baby painted to keep the memory. She has already ordered, but we are waiting for the first preview so I am quite excited. Search around a bit but this site seemed to be the most trustworthy one http://www.paintyourlife.com

you should just offer to help with the child.
giving gifts are one thing but actually being there is another.
offering to babysit is a good start but also try to do small things for the newborn
before that, like offering to change diapers or entertaining him.
